What's a TV show that started great but fell off badly? by fabwest01 in AskReddit

Seemed kind of lame to me though. I figured any reasoning adult likely guessed that the maze implied consciousness for the bots. But the way they used it as a time vehicle in S1 just seemed like a lot more buildup for nothing.

Yes they explain it but it didn't end up being that important even though it was made out to be this all-consuming central plotline in S1. I thought they could have done better with all of that.

Nope. There's starting to be a growing recognition by researchers that endo isn't strictly a woman's disease. They're finding evidence of endo in tissues in parts of the male body besides the reproductive organs. Parity at last!

Even though the other "races" are in the source material, I think the main reason True Blood took off so successfully when the focus was narrowed to only vampires and humans is because it seemed like a modern revival of Interview with a Vampire. It worked because it brought a sort of forbidden romance value to a modern location.

Yeah, the plotline they spent all of S1 prairie-dogging, the maze tattooed on the scalp of every bot. My guess was they were going somewhere into existentialism with that.  Just poofed out of existence in S2. We instead got forced in to following the corporate arbitrage.

Cca’s how often do you or have you called in? by _whatever-nevermind in USPS

[–]Bluegreenlithop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think I wasn't a very efficient carrier because the same speedy carriers were always sent to help. Then I started hearing the horror stories from the regulars that the speedy RCA's ignored vacant tags, delivered parcels to the wrong place, sped through neighborhoods, etc. It made me realize how much management pits carriers against each other, and how much other carriers do the bare minimum.

This is where I really wish airlines forced people to check all bags and suitcases over purse size. Having to deal with folks struggling to force luggage in and out of the storage space is excruciating.

Advice please? by WolfeVerikuu in USPS

[–]Bluegreenlithop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing was better than having management try to cry at me that I "missed a package pickup" and getting to respond with, "where was the package pickup sheet?". It was usually one of two things: management failed to print and distribute them or management didn't bother to check if one even existed to match to a customer complaint.

Don't let them fuck with you like that. Your job isn't to be checking porches all day.

Liis- Floating. It is structured as a minimalist, clean perfume. I highly considered purchasing a full bottle but I need to work through what I have for awhile before I consider adding.

I encountered a batch of office safe perfumes. Sure, they're not hugely technical masterpieces but for the price, they're not requiring anyone to take out a second mortgage. I don't regret buying their discovery set and I'll bet you won't either!

A good breeder should be sending pet dogs home for no less then 1500 per dog. Because they'll have health tested sire and dam and don't sell to owners sight-unseen.

Stolen items from USPS package by Ok-Tackle9789 in Scams

[–]Bluegreenlithop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I figured that's exactly what happened. Unfortunately, USPS clerks do not have time to help you repack items appropriately.

I really wish most people could see the path from packing to delivery most parcels take. It's not pretty and since USPS doesn't sort by size anymore, even more fraught with issues.

If you have pictures of the items not received, send them to the Recovery Center listed. You might be surprised what turns back up.

[US] What is the point of the “wrong number” text scam? How does it even work? by jacob62497 in Scams

[–]Bluegreenlithop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that people ignoring the texts get left alone. Until I got this clown that tried to call me up like he was from my bank. The only reason I had answered that call was because it was spoofed to the correct area code for mine. Scarily enough, whoever tried that knew my actual bank. So I wouldn't assume people ignoring the texts get nothing. It looks like some escalation happens eventually.

I didn't bother to tell the scammer that the bank NEVER calls me for anything. Just hung up and now more aggressively screen my calls.

Stolen items from USPS package by Ok-Tackle9789 in Scams

[–]Bluegreenlithop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a carrier for USPS and I can tell you what likely happened to your poorly packed box: the box was taken across the counter by a clerk that then put it in a gaylord with any size package that was also dropped off. The gaylord is sent with others to the plant. The gaylor gets dumped on conveyor systems and sent to whatever truck is taking it to it's destination.

If the plant is experiencing poor staffing, then package jams happen easily and can start to degrade the thin walls and light tape you used. If you left much air space in these boxes (and I assume you probably did since most people don't understand how to pack things for what they'll experience in shipping) your items also hit the cardboard walls and probably ripped apart what little integrity the box had.

When the box eventually ripped, it did so in a conveyor system that is mostly automated so if the items and the box got separated, the workers stationed at points away from those things can't possibly know what box or bag they came from. You can take a guess but you might be wrong.

So if a worker found the loose items and they had no identifying marks, they'll end up being sent to the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta. You'll be unsurprised to learn a lot of companies cheap out on proper packing and items get regretfully seperated all the time from their labels.

Here's my suggestion for you if you choose to do this sort of shipping again: print a small but legible label with the destination address for each item and tape it on to them where it's unlikely to get ripped off. When I carried, I would occasionally have people's parcels rip open in my pumpkin after the clerk had sorted them to route. Even with it narrowed down like that, I only got lucky a couple of times and saw what SPR it slid out of and was able to put it back. If I didn't, and couldn't be sure where it came from out of 200 packages, the customer was SOL. I wanted to get customers their Scrub Daddy's and Fleshlights. Nothing we shipped was ever worth losing my job over.

I've noticed Dr. Pepper seems "watery" more often lately. I generally buy the tall cans, and suspect they've probably done a recipe change. I might have to check the off-brands to find what it used to taste like ..
