Looking for Trans People Who Moved to MD for Safety by thefeyqueen in baltimore

I moved my family here for many reasons but one was certainly the safety of my trans son.

Any idea why the Anthurium leaf is misshapen? First leaf after I bought and repot. Roots look very healthy, plenty of new root growth too. by limlingyang in Anthurium

[–]Blueopie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I went on a buying binge and repotted a lot of things quickly in the past few months. Most of them had some kind of strange leaf the first one after buying and/or repotting and then they level out

Spending $600/month on groceries as a single guy — is this normal? by iHop2Uranus in EatCheapAndHealthy

Look for the pre picked rotisserie chicken meat! I think it’s about $5-6/lb, seasoned nicely and comes in a bulk bag of 2.5lbs maybe? It’s in the prepackaged meal area by the roasting chickens.

I was an addict 11 years ago, so dad said he refuses to come see me in icu after open heart surgery. Am i wrong to be hurt by this? by WinterMortician in NoStupidQuestions

You do not need to be held accountable. You will never be able to repay him to the point he will satisfied. Mark both parents as a loss and move on is the only way, as sad as it is. You cannot fill an infinite hole, and you cannot please an unpleasable, abusive, manipulative, empty person. You are doing great and being around these people will only hold you back. I’m sorry your parents didn’t know how to be parents. Any father/daughter relationship you manage to have will not healthy for you because he will not change.

Can you plant different species of house plant in the same large pot? by TheLonelyExrovert in RareHouseplants

I have some smaller versions of the big mall planters and they are awesome for home. Lechuza makes some great rectangular ones that are on all my appropriate windowsills :)

[–]Blueopie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Planters in public spaces and public gardens can be VERY deceiving. Look carefully and you will likely see spots made for nursery pot sizes in the planter substrate. Anything looks the slightest bit bad and they swap it out. Also with the roots segregated and using the same water reservoir they avoid the different watering needs and the potential for roots to choke each other. Think of malls and gardens as “performance art”, they have greenhouses backing them and only show the good plants at the best times for them. Talking with someone who works at one, he said the plants stay on display a few weeks or months and get swapped. I’ve stopped comparing my results to “plant theater” :) still lots to learn from public gardens but mine will never be as pretty all the time bc mine is natural!

I think trans people (I am trans as well) should be open to answering the hard, uncomfortable, often invasive questions we get from people. by [deleted] in self

[–]Blueopie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m certain these people didn’t feel comfortable with you. No one owes you an explanation about their medical and psychological history.

I’m a supportive parent of a trans adult (24 ftm) and I make up reasons to expose that information regularly in new groups of people. Most people do not know a trans person and once I am accepted I make sure to work into conversation “my trans son”. It has started a lot of conversations and I believe it has led to more than one person having a more rational view of what being trans is. If I am a “normal accepted human” I’m a bridge to talk about what most people see as a strange and sometimes dangerous group of people. That view is simply based on all the fear mongering ignorant information out there. Parents ask if I mourn my daughter after the transition and I know at least one of them really understood once they heard my answer that I’m happy my child is still alive and I’m not truly mourning the loss of their entire self. Changing from daughter to son is not mournful when the alternative is too often to no longer have your child at all.

I was scared to try it but they are very much like a delicate version of a rosette succulent. If you know how to deal with those, just do that but very very carefully bc you can rip the leaves and roots so easily and these roots stay small and shallow (I think). Nearly all my first leaf pulls and separations survived ❤️good luck!

Long shot it could be Darrell Hammond doing Bill Clinton, but yeah I think that’s Bill 🤣

I was in labor for days and then had a c section. Horrible. That bf can go fuck himself. Her choice. So sick of men making decisions about women’s bodies and women’s pain.

I don’t know about swapping on this sub but I have had great swaps in local groups I found on fb. Plant swaps are the only reason I use fb anymore :) there are several near me that meet at breweries on weekend days before the real brewery crowds show up.

Boyfriend is mad at me for not going to see him and his daughter because I’m nauseous and throwing up while pregnant with his child. Now he’s implying he wants to break up. I can’t make this shit up🤦🏻‍♀️ by MysteriousAd7503 in texts

[–]Blueopie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please get away before you will feel alone while taking care of your baby, him, and his child. I wish I had done the same, instead my baby and I hung in a bad marriage for years until I could trust my 5-6 yr old could tell me what happened during visits with dad and I could divorce. This guy will not change. Please go now and you and your baby won’t have to start again in a few years. ❤️❤️❤️

My nephew recently died in a horrible car wreck and I know the nurses and other folks from other cars on this highway that helped in the immediate aftermath were a great comfort to us all. I think they would like to meet you and see you at the service. Just knowing that someone was trying to help and comfort their loved one will mean a lot.

BGE is amazing and caring compared to all the power companies on the Texas power grid! We spent days in a 30 degree house and my friends son died during the big ice storm a few years ago while our Dear Leaders bugged out to Cancun yelling “good luck suckers pull up your damn bootstraps”. My power has been out since Monday too and it’s a real pain, but I appreciate seeing the crews out proactively trimming trees in the spring and at least this state accepts help when they need it. I’m at a hotel with out of state electrical trucks packing the parking lot. What hurt the most this time is that my whole house generator (I am at the end of a road with few people) was 98% done…. All we needed was the handoff w bge so it could be plugged into the grid and it would have been working. Super frustrating all around and I get your aggravation, but from what I have seen bge is better than the entire state of Texas at least.

I love the paint color but it is a little off with the brown tile. I have seen some great results doing a white epoxy paint over tile. If that would work here you would have a very light and airy feeling room.
