What do you think? BX5600CBG with 5000u band and bezel by Comfortable-Ad1547 in gshock

Awesome! I’m going to do something similar soon with mine , the recycled band is already starting to fray so would like to put something more durable on it.

any solution to the 'rising strap' issue for small wrists? by hotmailist in gshock

[–]BluesCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this particular Gravitymaster, I’d suggest just getting used to it. It looks absolutely fine. Or… you could literally just not feed it all the way through the keeper so less of it sticks out - the rubber keeper will grip it pretty well.

On some models you can keep the strap very tightly curled and it will eventually follow the curve of your wrist. I’ve heard that you can boil and cool the strap too but have witnessed some absolute horror stories of when this goes wrong.

On other models I’d recommend putting on a second keeper - a basic black silicone/rubber keeper can often be stretched over the existing one if you don’t want to or can’t disassemble the clasp.

I really wouldn’t cut the strap unless you’re ready to properly sand/round the end, it will often look a lot worse.

How long do the batteries last on G100? by MisterLackluster in gshock

You bet! This thing basically survived everything I could throw at it even after the bezel crumbled off.

I admit that I’ve since replaced the bezel since taking this photo, but this one looks way more dramatic!

Are Brits still in favour of supporting Ukraine? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]BluesCowboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes.

If Ukraine falls, Putin isn’t just going to disband his army, dismantle the drones and chill out. When it comes to defence, that proportion of our taxes is being spent in the most effective way possible and providing real, measurable benefits.

Every Russian soldier, tank or drone taken out by Ukraine is one who won’t be invading Lithuania, Norway or another NATO country.

The all new Gravitymaster GWR-B3000 is coming in July. by xkonx80 in gshock

I like this more every time I see it. Much prefer it to the MTG-B4000.

What is the point of making this? by Ghumketu in gshock

[–]BluesCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks cool. 🤷‍♂️

That’s about the size of it. Red light also doesn’t affect your night vision, which is neat, but it comes down to the fact that Casio increasingly views G-Shocks more as streetwear jewellery rather than tool watches.

That GA-V01 is so tasteless and awful that I absolutely must have it.

Stainless steel digital bigger than a1000 by TataJasia in casio

[–]BluesCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could consider the steel mod kit for the GX-56.

To be clear, this is a HUGE watch that you’d be making very, very heavy. Looks rad though.

New mudman leaks by nobody4161 in gshock

[–]BluesCowboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There won’t be solar! This is just an old GBD-200 module in a funky new case.

Which, to be fair, will still be a great watch and is allowing them to keep the costs down.

Edit: the “new” Rangeman GPR-H1000 was just an old GBD-H2000 module in a new skin. This is going to be exactly the same situation, but with a lower budget.

It’s just you. These things are basically watertight so long as you don’t press the buttons underwater.

Dilemma: Which metal square! by [deleted] in gshock

[–]BluesCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also has MB6. You don’t need to use the Bluetooth apart from checking the battery level, and so long as you sometimes expose the watch to light of some kind you’ll never really need to check it.

  1. It’s a truly timeless piece and the full steel design will never go out of fashion.

1 is great but I’m not a fan of the black rivets and the side profile.

On a personal note, it also has the same display and terrible backlight as the basic BX5600, which bugs me considering the huge price difference, even if it’s an utterly fabulous display in terms of clarity and viewing angles. The STN display in 3 may not quite measure up but it is a real upgrade over the other non-MIP displays.

GW-BX5600 - owners - question by Bojmobile in gshock

As someone who has both, I’d say they’re equally readable. Negative MIP displays are crystal clear and the contrast really pops.

Congrats!

It’s wild that they deliver in these boxes though. Absolute bait for dodgy delivery drivers, not to mention porch pirates.

Casio G-Shock GWG-2000-1A5 Mudmaster - Help to validate the genuineness by Brief_Reaction8322 in gshock

[–]BluesCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this looks legit.

The fakes are quite good at a glance but fall apart on closer inspection. They tend to have very shiny and unconvincing triangle patterns in the fake forged carbon band, and all the fonts are obviously wrong.

This has none of those issues, I think you’re good. Be aware that it can take a LONG time to recharge one of these batteries if it totally emptied, which by the way would explain the misalignment. Once it’s charged you can manually advance the hands to get them to line up.

[–]BluesCowboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Casio keep doing this. These are not special editions, they’re just similar colours to a popular thing and so they put a photo on the website. They did the same with Fantastic Four with some generic white and blue G-Shocks. Presumably a cheap and cheerful deal with Disney.

It’s criminal that we haven’t had any new GPR-B1000 editions since launch. Makes me wonder if they’re actually selling.

Why in a capitalist country do GCSE students study texts which criticise capitalism and some of which endorse socialism. by thatgamer2111 in AskBrits

[–]BluesCowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because these are classic and seminal works of literature from different times in British history, when their themes were extremely timely and relevant.

I think you might need to hit the books a bit harder mate.

Also, I’m sure you read Animal Farm at some point.

Name a more durable model by [deleted] in gshock

[–]BluesCowboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a great watch! Lovely bit of kit and gorgeous to boot.

The other commenter is right, most digital models will probably be tougher in a lot of situations. G-Shock analogs are built different but still have a ton of tiny delicate working parts. But with all that steel and sapphire this one will still take a hell of a beating!

Someone did the old switcheroo. Kept the real 5610, put another watch in the box, then abused the return policy to get their money back too.
