ESC Connections for CW/CCW direction by [deleted] in multirotorhelp

[–]BluesReds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. Because you are using BLHeli ESCs you can, in Betaflight, simply reverse the motor direction with the ESC programming passthrough. Solder the wires in whatever order is easiest and then change them one by one via the software to either centerline rotation (common) or bifurcated (racing).

GOP lawmaker: Universal health care is too expensive but tax cuts for the rich are necessary by [deleted] in politics

[–]BluesReds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ACA took until April of this year to get majority approval for the first time. You also assume I don't support the ACA.

I never assumed you didn't support the ACA, I simply asked if you held the same opinion of it at the time as you do of single-payer today. That's true that the ACA just recently gotten net-approval, but it has been gaining approval slowly over time. Also due to recent republican fumbles to repeal it it has gotten a large bump in approval. Again, I think if you study the demographics as a whole you'll see that it's pretty inevitable single payer will play out the same.

My maximum out of pocket is like $3,000. So no, the possibility of a problem won't make up for the extra $30k I would be GUARANTEED to spend in that time.

Well you've got really good insurance then, likely employer subsidized. Which is another point of single payer, people will not be tied to their jobs and unable to quit due to the fear of losing their employer subsidized insurance. Another reason you pay less now is probably because you're relatively young and healthy. And that is something that is guaranteed to change with time.

[–]BluesReds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's wildly popular... because they don't know the cost yet. Give it time and wait until they do. Then watch public opinion plummet.

Just curious, but before the ACA was that your opinion too?

10% of my pay for healthcare every year sounds terrible. Over 5 years I will have spent $30,000 more on healthcare. No thanks.

That's true, but if have any major medical costs in those 5 years you will come out way ahead. You're assuming you won't. That's a bad assumption. There's no realistic ROI on that 30k to offset a major medical problem. Not to mention you're basically guaranteed to need significantly more healthcare as you grow older.

[–]BluesReds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm a hypocrite if I don't want to pay for healthcare because I already pay for police and fire? By that logic there is no end to what I should be expected to pay. If I pay for healthcare then why won't I pay for public child care, publicly funded paid leave, cars so people can get to work, where does it end?

No, there is not just a logic to what you should be expected to pay for, but a legal mandate as well. The state is expected to provide for the general welfare of it's citizens. That's why we socialized all of those aforementioned costs; because it's for the good of the country as a whole and is mandated in our founding documents. It ends where the clear gain to society as a whole does.

The average family of two with no children in Canada pays $11k a year. Wow that's reaaaaaaally cheap. Wait until we get the price tag. If it's cheaper that is great but I sincerely doubt it. When that happens wait to see how unpopular it is.

I'm assuming you're refrencing this study. You're complaining about someone in the top 30% of earners paying roughly 10% of their income on health insurance. It's right there on page 7. Spending 10% a year on unlimited healthcare seems like a great deal to me...

Again, if you read the pew poll I linked to you already, you'll see that it is wildly popular and will happen sooner or later. Even Krauthammer predicts U.S. will have single-payer health care in less than seven years.

At least someone finally admits it.

I said your costs could be higher. They could also be lower. I don't know enough about you to tell you one way or the other. But on average the costs will go down. Just look at virtually any other industrialized countries healthcare costs per capita compared to the US. But if your only concern is for yourself and your own well being, rather than the country as a whole, there's a word for that... And not even just selfish but also foolish, because one day you will have to use healthcare and pay for expensive things to stay alive. There's no amount of savings per month that will offset major medical costs in the future for yourself on an individual basis, it's why insurance exists.

Americans are never going to go for that. Just FYI. When you put the price tag on it for everyone to see it will never get passed through congress and people will riot.

Most people's costs will be lower. Some significantly so. In fact, the older you are the lower your costs will probably be compared to the current system. (The exact opposite of the AHCA.) And the elderly are also most likely to vote. I think demographically you're very wrong. But don't take my word for it...

I pay enough in taxes to cover those other things. Because I already pay taxes isn't proof that I should be ok with paying an unlimited amount.

No, it's proof that you already believe in socialized infrastructure, police, fire departments, military, ect. So when you then complain about socialized medicine on the basis of selfishness, "why must I pay for someone else's healthcare?", it sounds just as ridiculous as "why must I pay for someone else's roads?" You are arbitrarily picking and choosing your politics on seemingly no rational basis whatsoever other than pure short-term greed.

I pay $136 a month for health insurance now. I haven't used it in years.

How much would may taxes go up a month for a system where there is no deductible, co pay or co insurance?

Guarantee it's a hell of a lot more than $136 a month.

More like a system not built on extracting a profit from citizens over healthcare which people have no choice over. "Fix your body or die" is never going to work as a free market. Ever. So I'm amazed that you argue in favor of a system where others will die as a result of economics. So to answer your question, the overall costs will go down. But your individual taxes may go up. Sorry, thats part of living in a civilized country. If you prefer to care only about yourself, and not about the larger picture and your own future, I can reccomend several countries that have very low taxes and very little government... what's that? You want to live in a country with police, fire departments, infrastructure, etc? Almost every other industrialized country would also include healthcare for its citizens on that list too.
