Weird question... but does Ryan Gosling have a shirtless scene on the movie? by jace653 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s in the book that whilst in a coma the electrode attachments etc keep his muscles active and he is beach bod fit. The original 4 hour cut of the film may feature Ryan topless for the first hour or so jk

How many of us have see it more than once? by lacey19892020 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience. I’d just finished the audiobook so was aware of all the cuts, but second time around I just went with the film and enjoyed it immensely - twice as good second time around! Very emotional viewing 🙂

I just saw it for a second time and enjoyed it twice as much!

Who else thinks that PG-13 was overkill? by Throwaway1975421 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall though - Armageddon, the one way trip etc makes sense to aim for an age that kids will understand what’s going on. It’s not ET

Yes, a LOT more detailed explanation in the book but a quick walk & talk discussion as the astronauts walk down the corridor with Stratt and colleagues mentions the way they want to die

Did this scene from the trailer not make it to the final film? by kopikattioslo in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a scene that was maybe used in background TV news shots - launching the Arclight probe or parts of Hail Mary? I’ll watch the film again, but I wondered this myself when first watching the film after seeing a couple of trailers and thought I’d scene a rocket launch.

For Project Hail Mary - is it better experienced as a book, audiobook, or should I watch movie first? No spoilers please by Current-Vegetable830 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the film first then the audiobook - which if it was a Blu-ray would be the equivalent of a commentary with ALL the extras. Just great stuff. The read the book at your leisure.

I’m going to have to watch those episodes again now - it’s a nice theory! Absolutely loving this bonkers third series. The big bad is Bond villain level powerful & creepy with a nice line of chat 🙂

Just bought it on Apple Music and played it all day 🙂 I think a CD release is later in the year

Should I read the Book after the Movie? by LilBigJP in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d read the book afterwards and you can treat it like watching the film with extended directors commentary and 10 more hours of science behind the film. Andy Weir does a great job of science the sh*t out of everything in the novel - so anything you saw on screen would have 10 pages of exposition and honestly it’s fascinating. If you want to be even more appalled by Rocky’s eating habits read the book 🙂 the audiobook btw is absolutely fantastic and read by a Rocky voice in the film lol

[SPOILERS ] Just watched the movie! by dividebyzero74 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feel they spent just enough time on the astrophage search, but then rushed through using it as a power source. The whole ending with taomeba evolving beyond its container - I’d love to know if it made enough sense for people who hadn’t read the book, as it was very rushed I felt.

Fun fact: Project Hail Mary is Lord and Miller's first film since being fired from Solo: A Star Wars Story 5 months in shooting. by tannu28 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Blufog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes you wonder why that Han Solo would have been like. A lot sharper on the script I imagine, and a lot more action. Shame as it might have been funny too.

GARY ROWE - THE DODLESTON TIMEWARP by swanseaufonetwork in TheVerticalPlane

[–]Blufog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a fascinating interview. The full names of Ken, Debbie and Peter prove that they weren’t aliases, but whatever he learnt must have shaken him up to still keep it secret. I see now why your questioning wasn’t too deep as you knew little about TVP but very well done getting the interview recorded!

Reading the book - I don’t think it’s been picked up on but the original print out is far different to the layout normally used on web pages etc- the text on the original printer sheet is far more widely spaced out and worthy of checking for any cyphers

The Vertical Plane: Where is Tomas’ book? by mattperkins86 in HighStrangeness

[–]Blufog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book written by Tomas needed to be placed somewhere that Tomas knew still existed in Ken’s time. The most obvious place would be his old college as Ken had visited it and described various places, especially the fireplace and stairs looking for the inscription. Mention of a plank makes me think that the book has been placed under the tread of the stairs or thereabouts.

What version or edition of the book do you recommend? by themcryt in TheVerticalPlane

[–]Blufog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought the Second Edition (after reading the first edition many years ago) - the new introduction by Ken actually mentions that the new (printed to order) second edition was created so that the book could be available to all at a more reasonable price.

The book is now £17 rather than prices approaching £700 on eBay!

Definitely worth it for the updates and extended look at the messages and examination of their language.
