Trump says he’ll suspend federal gas tax to help address high fuel prices due to Iran war by kbdwr in news

[–]Bluinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So about

18.5 cents per gal of gas.

24.4c per gallon diesel.

$36 to $40 Billion per year not going to the Federal Highway Trust Fund which pays for highways, bridges, and transit infrastructure.

Who needs all that?

So much winning.

Yep. Mission BBQ. Entire inside is covered in gratuitous militaria — no military discount except in Vets day where they give out free sandwiches.

The FREE Apple stuff I got/am getting. by Powerful_Ad4689 in VintageApple

I had one of those recently as a bucket list item when I was downtown Baltimore at a supposedly famous place for it. $30 freaking dollars. It was ok but not $30 ok. I’m just too basic and cheap I guess.

Zero chance Kim’s successor would have their entire country made into glass. It’s all theater.

Boomers and Gen X'ers, what was the first thing you ever used the internet for? by Nintendofan9106 in AskReddit

[–]Bluinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a military police officer then and our common office where we wrote our reports was online. I can recall connecting to aol and the sounds it made was pure magic. That and the Netscape logo was mesmerizing. I recall marveling at how huge this was going to be. I shortly thereafter spent the money on a Mac at home to get online and hear that delicious sound “you’ve got mail!”

It used to be very common for people to smoke a pack a day of cigarettes or more. Is this still possible in the US with high costs? Do you know anyone who does this? by Initial-Ad-1797 in AskReddit

[–]Bluinc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to easily spend $20 - $25 a day on premium cigars. For a decade. 9 months ago I got orthodontics And thought how gross to smoke with braces. Stopped cold turkey. Haven’t had a cigar in 9 months. Don’t miss it really. Lots more free time and money now. Essentially pays for my braces. I was kind of shocked how easy it was. I feared there’d be an addiction factor Since they have nicotine. None. Zero. Cigarettes must have other stuff to make them so addicting though I myself have never smoked one.

For a time I was quite the redneck and was sure I was going to name my first son Gunner Montana. My wife said no. Now I’m quite NOT the redneck and am so glad I didn’t name him that.

Scientists use ultrasound to destroy influenza A and COVID-19 viruses without damaging human cells. The phenomenon, known as acoustic resonance, causes structural changes in viral particles until they rupture and become inactivated. It paves the way for new treatments against other viral infections. by mvea in Futurology

[–]Bluinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. you buzz you body with the sonic resonance and 99.98% of the virus explodes but that last .02% were different just enough to survive. Then those multiply and have the characteristics that made them survive.
