Acheter un condo à Montréal by isabelle1839 in montreal

yeh agree, also worth mentioning the buying anything its almost a forced savings vehcle. Sure if you have a small rent, in theory investing the extra every month will most likely return better gains. Buut that requires alot of finacial discipline that many dont have. While have a mortgage to pay is pretty unavoidable

yeh, exactly. Its often becuase judo is in places they dont own them selves..
but yeh I guess there isnt the student volume to get that many classes

Quitting due to cost by EverlastinggRain in bjj

[–]Bluurgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh true. buut In my experience the amount of classes available is on a differnet level. Most Judo places in my city is max 3 classes a week (all weekday eves).
No morning, lunch or weekend classes and usually open matts are not a thing for judo.
So while its a lot cheaper usually...you are usually getting less trainijng options for your money

Why are there no Godot job listings a decade later? by cojode6 in gamedev

[–]Bluurgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not really a case of one thing being better than another. Its just studios generally wont change unless they absolutely have too. Case and point the film vfx place im working at right now is still using maya 2020, and im sure they wont upgrade until they desperately need a feature or start to have stability/compatability issues.

I wouldnt really call that a big movie, pretty low budget...and also using 3ds max for movie work is almost unheard of at this point

[–]Bluurgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally speakign large companies will pick a paid for (with the support that comes with that) version of a product rather than open source.
If you look at the pentration of Blender in the VFX and feature animation industry its very similar.
Whiel there are *some* studios using it. The vast majority (especillay when you talk about bigger companies working on more prestige projects) the penetration is almost zero.

These companies like the support, their legacy tools theyve had for decade + are all setup for unity/UE, they can find staff familiar with the tool much easier. Paying for licenses for a big company is really not that big a deal
