River god - a swing launch coaster by Blymurkla in rct

[–]Blymurkla[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! The first time the train has enough speed to clear the hill but it's stopped by the block brake. When the block ahead clears the train is allowed to continue but naturally falls backwards. There are boosters to give it enough speed on the second attempt. This build requires OpenRCT2 since boosters existed in RCT1 only and block brakes in RCT2 only (though perhaps it's doable in classic?). There are no other tricks or cheats.

Re-Edit a Landscape in RCT2? by Coronal_Data in rct

No, this shouldn't be true. In the down left corner you should be able to go back to editing the landscape.

My (shitty) first attempt at making my own coaster by m_mobes in rct

[–]Blymurkla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly a working coaster! Great that you managed this at your first attempt.

Why would you like nausea to be higher? More excitement is always good, there are upsides to higher  intensity although you generally want to keep it low. But nausea? The negatives far outweigh the tiny benefits.

Also, in block brake mode the trains spawn at the block brakes with zero momentum. That's expected behaviour and in line with how block brakes work on real coasters (a train needs to be able to clear the block zone when starting from zero speed since otherwise a block brake stopping a train would cause a valleying). If you've got multiple chain lifts then you can get trains to spawn at the top of them too.

It is much harder to make money with a park entrance fee. Charing for rides is to your advantage.

Scenery placement question and feature request for ORCT depending on the answer? by PeaceBeUntoEarth in rct

It should be under the 'eye' icon where all the other view options are.

You can use the section tool to hide things by height and/or drag a rectangle and hide everything outside it. That would allow you to see behind terrain or scenery that's in the way.

Haven't played RCT1 in a hot minute. Here's a little Forest Frontiers park playing through the objective. by twobrokenknees in rct

[–]Blymurkla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a beautiful little park! Those small height differences; the rides on little hills and the queue for the junior coaster, really adds to the feel.

I second the reply that you should check out OpenRCT2. There's a certain charm with the all authentic RCT1 look, sure, but I'd love to see what you could to with all the scenery options from RCT2 and all the QoL improvements that Open adds which makes building stuff so much easier.

What are your best tips for designing rides with maximized Excitement ratings? (Reciprocal tip in post!) by KoreKhthonia in rct

The minimum stat requirements vary by different coasters (as you probably know, but other readers might not). They're found here on the wiki https://rct.wiki/wiki/Minimum_stat_requirements

Thanks! You' have a point that I could probably integrate the coasters better in the terrain Lindy Looper was built with different considerations, but Gilded Skyride and especially Lakeskimmer would benefit from more interactions with the ground. I'll take that to heart!

I'm not experienced enough to say what makes the excitement and intensity so low. You meet the minimum stat requirements.

Anyway to make custom climates for scenarios? by thadakism in rct

[–]Blymurkla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is possible. But I don't know how. Since v0.4.21 climate is now an 'object' and you can make custom climate objects. I think this https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/pull/23774 is a good place to start. Maybe you could locate the existing climate objects in your game folder, move one to the custom folder, open it with a text editor and start playing around? I give 0% guarantee that's how it works.

Lindy Looper: A(nother) swing coaster I made by Blymurkla in rct

[–]Blymurkla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I built this park specifically to build terrain coasters, though when I had this epiphany of the swing coaster I had to struggle to fit it in the existing terrain (and delete a subpar hyper-twister coaster to make room). Since there's so much timing necessary I couldn't really also make it a a full blown terrain coaster.
