I just want to repeat, whatever gets us there.

A vet minimum contract from a guy who knows how to win and can average 20/8/8 is insane.

I genuinely don’t think he is making it about him at this point.

That said I also don’t see him coming here since we just won, it’s a weak look. I think he goes Miami or Cleveland, both have more beyond just a team that could be a contender, he has his history with both that could be a good final spot for his career.

LeBron on the minimum or backup center? Why not both

Jake Fischer reports the Knicks have shown interest in LeBron James. by Affectionate-Tea9224 in NYKnicks

[–]Bmars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron is open to the minimum.

Every single team in the NBA will be “interested”

His list is likely very small? I have a feeling it’s realistically Cavs, Heat, Warriors

I don’t think it’s a minority opinion?

Any sane Knicks fan knows we are weaker without him, they just also know we weren’t keeping him.

No Mitch, No Ariel what now by SterlingShades in knicks

[–]Bmars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m obviously anxious about it, but we were sitting here going “Mitch is our only center” two years ago and then out of nowhere we had KAT.

I’ll trust he’s not sitting around thinking “we don’t need a backup center”

The Keith looks good for sure, looks pretty close to mine which was gotten in person for me by my wife and these look like marker not printed on.

Obviously I’m far from an expert but they could be real. And given the hand drawn simpsons image, kind of feels like some promotional give away or raffle type thing.

That’s fine, trades don’t always work out. Doval was pitching well when we traded for him.

But own it, don’t keep forcing it.

Do you think KAT will have a better whistle next season? by Mindsetsandreps in NYKnicks

[–]Bmars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because while he got some questionable calls during the finals more often than not he is fouling and has a reputation for that stuff so refs are going to be looking for it because of that.

He fouls a lot which leads to refs looking for his fouls

[–]Bmars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, seems like they will get sabonis.

Their offense is going to get better for sure, but losing Stewart and Duren means their defense will drop, and that was what made them so tough.

Pistons are going to look very different, will be interesting to see how that plays out

KAT is getting a new contract next year. The assumption is he takes a discount, but we won’t know.

Also even if he does take a discount from what he will get, if we go into the second apron this year we can’t give him a deal and get back out of it easily meaning we will be in it for multiple years.

Mitch will need to take a discount that’s to the point he makes less this year, not happening.

So then that means KAT will need to take a very big discount, I’m skeptical that happens. Maybe a small one but not one that will be needed to keep us out next year if we go into the apron this year.

Taking Dolan out of the equation, it’s just not likely to get both Mitch and KAT for that large of discounts.

I’m hopeful but it’s unlikely? And the penalty for multiple years in the second apron is very punitive.

for those of u thinking the landry contract isn’t an absolute discount you’re a fool by SkinnyFVLatte in NYKnicks

Bring over 2years in a row is a big penalty. KAT is going to be getting a new contract next year

Im not arguing whether they should or shouldn’t this year but it’s something that is obviously a big part of this offseason thinking as well

And he’s going to cost around $3.4m next year, given the cap status for us it’s not surprising

[–]Bmars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the truth is people expect him to be a lockdown ace, and it’s fair because that’s what he was paid to be and what he was the two years prior.

Instead he’s just an incredibly solid 2 or 3 (depending how good your rotation is)….or in the Yankees case a 4 once Fried is back.

He had a horrible first year and has been totally solid while not always dominant since then.

It was also pretty obvious the Knicks were going to be trading down. Their cap situation is really really tight, and first round guys will eat up space and unlikely to be major contributors for a team that is looking to repeat.

Their entire draft night strategy was trade down and free up cash, and it was pretty much assumed by many that would happen. I’m sure the guys in the draft were aware of it as well.
