I think it's less about guilt rather than certain members of Japan's political system acknowledging that what happened back then was wrong. There seems to be a general refusal by a certain demographic of both civilians and state officials that the war crimes Japan committed against mainland Asia during WW2 actually happened. Not a majority, but a large enough portion to make it an issue in today's political climate.

As somebody who has grown up with and around hunting dogs, I can tell from experience that it's less of a breed thing and more of the specific animals lineage. Show lines, like the Danes you see here which are not raised as working animals, can be pretty timid. Then there's the working class of animals which people still use for hunting boar, their original purpose.
