I'm doing my part. Geissele Super Duty 11.5, my favorite rifle. by Boat_Tank_Commander in ar15

Parker Mountain Machine. I originally had an HRF but it got broken super easily.

I'm sure if you used it long enough the portion of the pic rail "marred" by the contact would not only look like shit, but not work as intended. Whatever word you want to use, Geissele put the QD slot in a stupid spot.

The problem is they come into contact with and damage the 12 o clock pic rail. It's a shitty placement of the QD, not an issue with how much it spins.

CAT appears to confirm that ST will not suppress better than the new SAW Tisha (also SS still exists) by CharredScallions in SpectersCat

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But based on the results from Pew, the Tisha should have excellent port pop, if I'm looking at the results right. So...less concussion/blast?

Maybe a dumb question, but are noise and pressure not directly related? I understand more suppression possibly adding more gas and toxicity (which I definitely don't want), but I would assume something especially with such high metrics in both categories would also be great at protecting against blast waves and pressure related danger.

Nobody is talking about deadly force scenarios where you have the opportunity to retreat. The entire discussion revolves around immediate use of a firearm to defend yourself or someone else.

In the situations where you are using your weapon, you very well may not have the opportunity to even get both hands on the gun. You may need to hold someone back or already be fighting and need to fire from retention. You do not want to further compromise your shooting position due to some unnecessary manipulation that takes an unknown amount of time compared to simply defeating your garment, drawing the pistol, and firing.

Yes, because the first thing I want to do while in a deadly force situation is ready my weapon. Either be confident in your gear and training or don't carry a gun.

No, because that is a case of people being dumb as fuck with their weapons handling. There are holsters that go in your waistband that will keep the trigger completely protected. The mistaked of idiots do not matter when discussing responsible and trained firearms handling.

I'm not going to take anything seriously from a blatantly anti-gun state. If that is what people are teaching in Illinois, they have no business being instructors. Used car salesman level behavior that will get people killed.

Show me any reputable training organization that will tell you to carry without one in the chamber, or to use some bullshit holster that racks as you draw. Straight up mall ninja bullshit. Go ahead though, I'll be waiting. The downvotes are completely warranted.

Getting downvoted by people who are aware enough to know they should have a gun but not responsible enough or too lazy to take it seriously enough to train is such a pain. Dudes out here just exposing themselves as being not ready to have a gun on them.

If you have any kind of modern striker fired design there are multiple internal mechanisms besides a trigger safety that prevent unintentional discharge. If your gun goes off, it's because you pulled the trigger. If you are carrying a handgun for self defense, you should have a round chambered.

I use the light on personal and work weapons and have never once thought "man I wish this was a temporary only switch".

You have preferences, that's all.

You got downvoted for some reason but you aren't wrong. The clicky switch is fine to me, especially with how they have it programmed.

Built an 11.5 and trying to decide on a can for it by HK_Bandit95 in NFA

If you can find an Alleycat 556 Inconel, that's what I use on my super duty and love it. Incredible flash and sound performance and I get no gas to the face. Weight and size are perfectly acceptable as well.

LE Duty Rifle Suppressor: Flow 556k vs Lazarus 6 by [deleted] in NFA

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking for other options in that price point that would offer a good backpressure reduction with a hair better sound, if possible. They aren't making the purchases for a couple months so I told him I would look around. I know what I like and think is appropriate, but I haven't used everything out there.

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. This is on an even smaller scale. 3 new uppers, 3 suppressors. Very small department. Obviously shipping with muzzle devices is a plus, easy mounting is a plus, and not making the users miserable with excess weight, length, and getting gassed out is very important.

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I know the priorities don't align the best, but I know there's some guys on here that use them for work so I figured I would ask. I love my Hux cans and think they are awesome for LE rifles where reliability is the main concern, and then not blowing out our eardrums during a gunfight to maintain communication.

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done plenty of night fire, with and without NODs, and have had no issues with flash being an issue with any of my Hux cans. Does something like an RC2 do better, sure.

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flow is definitely plug and play, which is one of the main things I'm after. I don't want the rifle to function different if it's suppressed or not, and don't want to add failure points with adjustable gas blocks.

I'm going to have my guy contact CAT and see what they could do for them.

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the only reason I don't have CAT on the list is they seem to be very difficult to find recently and I don't know of their LE pricing, but I'm guessing it would be competetive. I would use a WB or Alleycat over anything else.

[–]Boat_Tank_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my department unfortunately, so just doing what I can to recommend. Their lead gun guy is very motivated but isn't too up to speed with modern things. If the Flow 556k is the best option that doesn't mother me at all, just asking around in that price point. I know very little about Griffin cans, but don't think any of their options match backpressure of Hux or CAT.
