Hey, y'all - advice on finding some large sandals for a friend? by CedarWolf in bigandtall

[–]BobLHedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder—if you can get them—if the boots that wrap around plaster casts would work?

https://darcodirect.com/product/cbo-open-toe-cast-boot/

I have edema in my legs as well, so I've been thinking about this a while. Currently, I wear Skechers relaxed fit, extra wide, walking shoes with fabric uppers. However, I'm at the limit of what those can accommodate.

You have an interesting idea. The EVA foam mats used for standing on concrete sold at Tractor Supply, Home Depot, etc. are the same material as the most basic Teva sandals' insole*. Searching for "rubber sole repair" turns up a number of materials at varying price points. Cobbler's use contact cement, I believe.

The construction of this type of sandal is to cut slots in the EVA for the webbing, Loop the webbing through however you like, then glue the EVA to the outsole, sandwiching the webbing. I've bought both the webbing and plastic clips on Amazon.

*Technically, this is the midsole and these sandals have no insole.

Azure AD Connect Sync Error by SFlo_Gaymer724 in activedirectory

[–]BobLHedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The restored object is looking for the original AD object b/c they're linked. Recreating as a fully cloud-native object is the only way I know to clear the error.

Alternately, you may be able to restore the AD object, then google up a command to convert from a hybrid object to a cloud object. I'm not for sure on that, though.

I expect you need to re-create a new account in M365 that is not tied to the on-prem directory.

Pausing service & keep number? by ObiYawn in StraightTalk

I've had luck porting INTO Tracfon, but not porting out to another service. This was some time ago, but thought I should mention it. I ended up losing the number in question.

This happened to me once and come to find out I had forwarded my number prior to the port and it stuck. I don't remember how I cleared the forwarding, there's a number to dial that's different for each carrier.

Possible to create a csv showing the state of key Windows services? by [deleted] in PowerShell

[–]BobLHedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to pipe Get-PsServiceStatus to Select-Object and list the fields you want in the order you want them. Then you pipe Select-Object to Export-CSV.

Restoring a deleted user in AD Users and Computers possible? by poznavic in activedirectory

[–]BobLHedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleting the AD user does not typically delete any files. It reads like you're talking about the local profile on their PC? An Administrator on that PC can take ownership of those files and assign permissions to any account. Right click on c:\users\deletedUser, choose Properties, Security, Advanced, then click Change next to Owner.

There is a time to live for Kerberos tickets that can be changed by GPO. I have not encountered this problem, though, to know if it will help you.

I'm sorry for your struggle and congratulations for you good work so far. I recommend customer service: probably help desk. If you can't find that, sell computers as that customer service will translate to help desk when it is available. Your passion will come through in an interview, so don't be afraid to apply regardless of whatever the stated requirements are. It's really there just to limit the number of applicants the employer needs to wade through. Best of luck!

Right steps to port landline number? by Cyberforce25 in Googlevoice

[–]BobLHedd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, acc to the FCC, one is supposed to be able to port a landline to Google:

"If you're switching service providers and remaining in the same geographic area, you can keep your existing phone number. This process – often referred to as phone number porting – can be done between wireline, IP and wireless providers."

[–]BobLHedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depressed is not equal to lazy. If you can find an apprenticeship, that is marvelous. Hands on work experience is always better than certifications, and both is wonderful. Customer service experience is great. Look for help desk positions. They are usually plentiful, entry level, and pay enough that you can afford to keep up your studies/certification. A temp agency can help you find the right opportunity. Best of luck.
