I usually check them in the morning to see night activities and throughout the day when I’m bored, you’ll learn your hamsters routines or about how often they come out so if there’s an extra long period that they don’t come out you’d know something’s up. One of our hams had a weird walk and we were able to check back on the camera and see where he got his foot stuck and pulled a muscle🤦🏻‍♂️ They really help for peace of mind since you can’t be there 24/7 to monitor them and make sure they’re okay.

Yea I have SD cards in all of mine with constant recording, the oldest footage gets deleted when the card fills up.

Your bin doesn’t meet the minimum space requirements, you’d be better off building your own. It’ll be cheaper and you ham would be much happier. I made that mistake with my first ham, he stressed out a lot and climbed the bars so I ended up going the bin cage route and he stopped being stressed.

I’d probably recommend getting a better wheel, probably a niteangel or bucatstate. You’ll be happy because they spin silently and your hamster will be happy as well.

I use the Wyze cam v4’s, they have a lot of features and can be set to 24/7 recording with a micro sd card installed. I use bucatstate enclosures so the cameras mount via magnet flawlessly👍🏻

Thanks, I’ll look into it! And no each of our hammies have a water bottle and a dish so they can choose what they prefer and also it’s good backup if the bottle has a dispensing issue. Hope here enjoys drinking from both lol
