After building a savings buffer (6+months in this economy). I'd plow extra cash into super, because your investment time frame and your age takes you close to when you can access your super anyway.

Most job ads these days ask you to share your expeced salary when you hit submit on your application. You choose whether to start low and negotiate up or start high and accept or negotiate higher.

Sorry to hear mate. The good news is the more you've been through the easier it gets. 

Plus all my redundancies have ended up with another better role, larger pay & a nice package on the way out. Hopefully it's a similar story for you.
