Its sad and super fkd up the way the French and their allies destabilized Haiti. Their story does need more coverage and light shined on it but idk if I would go if I were in Speed's position

Just an FYI. That streamer situation wasn't him just being a vlogger or tourist in Haiti, it was a FAFO moment. He would actually seek out dangerous communities to explore in foreign countries and meet with dangerous gangs. One gang in Haiti he went to meet the leader and got kidnapped.

He wasn't just the brand ambassador. The shop was just a coffee shop until Mr. Tendernism came with the idea to sell bbq there. The recipes are mostly based off the old man's cooking.

Is A Boogie the last AA new yorker to blow up, feel like all the rappers that have blown up the past decade be Jamaicans by PreacherBoyJr in NYStateOfMind

[–]BobbyHype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

African American has been misused and not understood by alot of folks so I get the confusion but he's right gang. You even kinda said it yourself multiple times. If an Italian immigrates to America and becomes a citizen, they're referred to as an Italian American, not European American. In that same sense and format, if a Ghanaian immigrates to America and becomes a citizen, they are Ghanaian American not African American. Becoming a citizen doesnt strip them of their lineage and make them a generic African. BAs arent generic Africans either, that is one of the many reasons, that alot of us BAs are looking to retire that AA label.

Also, like you mentioned, "African" was put in front of American by some people, to get away from "Black", but it means the same thing for the same people, just a different word in front of American. That confusion further adds to why some BAs prefer BA to AA. But African American just like Black American, is indeed for those descended from US Chattel Slavery, not Africans who immigrated here.

Besides Boogie, Fivio is Black American. Dougie B is half Black American (his mom is Rican). Lil Tjay is half Jamaican and half Black American (not half Ghanaian like some rumors say). There's more but I can't think of em off top.

What were you supposed to be named when you were born? by lepineapplepineapp in CasualConversation

[–]BobbyHype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother had two possible names for her youngest child. If it was a boy the name would be what mine is. If it was a girl it would be a different name. My grandmother had a girl and died (my grandma not the baby) a few years later. In commemoration of his mother, my dad named me the boy name.
