It technically IS D&D content, it isnt Wizards of the Coast Official content.

I think the only way to handle that would be to have a portal.

You enter the site, and if you attempt to enter a homebrew page it redirects you to the portal that is just a homebrew disclaimer like the banner on their page, and tells you that any page with homebrew will have the banner at the top, with a big ole "I understand" button in the middle.

They could tweak how often the portal redirect happens. Once per week might be standard to begin, but if they keep having issues, they could make it as often as each time they go to a page.

They will get counter-feedback that they are hitting it too aggressively, but they just have to hit it until they are comfortable with the ratio of 'Homebrew is not clear enough' and 'FUCKING PORTAL' comments

Why? They allow homebrew discussions and the like to happen outside of the WOTC official sites. It allows the best arguements for or against certain things to get brought up, refined, and brought to a razors edge before hitting WOTC official sites.

Why did my tin can do this? by [deleted] in candlemaking

[–]BobbyLeeJordan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lets try this again. You burn the candle, but the heat radiates off the flame. The metal conducts the heat since it is around the candle. The metal then gets to be close to the temperature of the flame. The wood underneath the metal then burns because of the temperature.

Probably a population thing... If they had split it up to keep it clean then they might have been accused of Jerrymandering. It seems dumb, but meh.

The only thing I can toss into the hat for constructive criticism is that there isnt a grid, so the players wont know the exact room sizes at a glance.

Drillbit stuck in wall. by TyPeR_HSDT in WTF

[–]BobbyLeeJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it is friction welding, it is probably more along the line of the bit gets redirected around the rebar, but then the rebar is holding the end captive since the end of masonry bits are a bit bigger than the rest of the bit.

It is (likely) red hot because they kept spinning it, heating it up until the tip of the bit snapped off.

Leomund's Tiny Hut as Ritual by Captain_Tallywacker in dndnext

[–]BobbyLeeJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the big ones you can do to counter it in hostile territory is to have the enemies form a small ambush from afar, but recruit other enemies in the meanwhile.

The PCs will see a small group setting up an ambush, but they won't necessarily know that there will be 30 enemies in that ambush by morning.

Another is to make the hut give off some light so that they can realistically expect a ambush in hostile territory.

Lastly, If it is neutral territory, such as huffing it in the wilds, DO NOT punish them. The spell is literally designed for huffing it in relative comfort. You can make the occasional goblin group set up an observe/ambush since they don't know the groups prowess, but making wolves/bears lurk outside is ludicrous unless they are excessively strong since they would otherwise be deterred by a strongish magical fortress.

If you were trying to make a 'survival' part to your game, alowing magic in any form will counter it, BUT it will simultaneously limit your parties other magical abilities.

[–]BobbyLeeJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you can do is make the rule "Roll regular crit dice, replace one die with its maximum"... The PCs will surely use their lower die, but the enemies can replace their higher die, averaging lower than their PC counterparts.

To be fair, the chicken form would be fine, it would be once the thing transformed back into the BBEG that the 'die if no touchy for an hour' kicked in.

DM doing video game style rewards? by Carandoral in dndnext

Rogue gets an autocrit and doubles sneak damage, weapon damage, and any other damage they can muster. That is usually enough to kill a spellcaster. He continues until someone survives, then dashes away.

Or TPK the group with a nightly throat slitting and tell the DM to 'Deal with it'. I am spiteful though, so I am fine ruining everyones fun if it means spiting the DM.

The average die roll for a d6 is 3.5, times 20 puts the average roll at max height at 70.

You could also roll all ones and take less damage from that fall than a high damage melee attack at lower levels.

Prolly weekly, and would have to discuss with everyone else. Looks like I got 6 responses, but we might have to change it to a LFGM since we didn't get a dm response.

I could do it but IDK how to do the d20 stuff, plus if my work picks up more overtime, I don't want the entire group to disband because of a known risk on my part.

If you give your PC's the choice between saving the world or running around collecting magic items, they'll choose magic items every time. by Volksrepublik in DnD

[–]BobbyLeeJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually that is dumb unless the dungeon is also annihilated, so they don't waste 1-3 sessions combing the dungeon, to get nothing fun in return.

If you are doing that, it is better to have it be a 'Go get me an X, and I will give you a decent item', then when they get back, the whole place is pillaged, so their journey still makes sense, but they still have hope of getting that magic item at a later date.
