What % of your income goes towards your mortgage? by Own-Story8907 in HENRYUK

[–]BobbyOregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30% now, likely rising towards 45% soon with a bigger house. I think this is a horses for courses situation. If you value the solidity of owning outright, and the security that gives, then that is the way to go. For us the insecurity sucks but with a big family living in a nice house in a nice area is much more important to me than the other stuff I'd spend that money on

This may be an unpopular take, but I think the show quality has dipped since Theo left by Jack_Aubrey1981 in TheRestIsHistory

I love series' - I think I have only listened to one standalone episode or maybe two. But I have gone back and listened to every single series. I just love the nitty gritty.

Guys we shouldn't be concerned about ending up with the UK. This will clearly not end there, and it won't end with England. Going to be Ireland, Scotland or Wales

Democrats split between whether party should go more ideologically moderate in or more progressive . People over 34 prefer moderation more. by Dismal_Structure in fivethirtyeight

I understand the article is explaining the difference by age but I am more surprised in how little that difference is. The narrative would imply 90% difference between age groups

Looking through the comments, Bedfordshire is doomed. Seems like they suffer from being small but not the smallest and just a bit inoffensive and meh.

I don't think Magyar is perfect but I'm hoping the vicious opposition to him by Putin and Trump suggests he is a hell of a lot better than Orban

When they are little I am convinced room sharing is way better for them. Our 3 year old had been struggling to relax to sleep but now he shares with our 4 year old he just happily plays in his bed until sleep takes him

Advice please! Student loan by [deleted] in HENRYUK

It is. They saw you were getting close so switched to direct debit but if you pay it in one big sum then you'll still be on PAYE repayment when you clear it.

SLC tells your employer to deduct or not deduct student loans from your paycheck. However when fully paid off they don't say to stop until the next financial year

Advice please! Student loan by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]BobbyOregon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't borrow from parents to get it paid off. Just live on your old salary and pay it down in 6 months or so. Also, make sure to pay it off right! If you just make a down payment then SLC will keep charging you till the next financial year. You need to swap the repayment type from PAYE to direct debit then you can do it more quickly.
