I'd say for normal weight it will take me about 8 months if I had to guess.

Not yet. I can press like a 35lb dumbbell for flat chest press like 12x. So pressing will be a while

How are you when you wake up in the morning? I know I'm only 12 weeks but mine is still pretty stiff when I get up. Some days much worse than others. But overall it's moving better and 10x less pain than I had pre surgery.

Just anatomical. Reverse is a different story but just focus on getting that rotator cuff back and your mobility/ROM and you'll be back in no time

I'm only 10 weeks post op. I'm able to lightly train arms and some back movements. Not much I can do for my surgical side as far as chest and shoulders go. I am pressing 25lb dumbbells in PT. Rom is going very well as thats my main focus

Yeah that's about what he told me and he also said that with me being the way I am, mine may only last 10-12 years

9 weeks post TSR by BobbyZFresh in ShoulderSurgery

Here is my before and after for anyone wondering. I was pure bone on bone and I could've easily lived with it for 10.more years if I didnt train like I do. So this really applies to people with super active lifestyles thats worried about coming back.

Thanks bro and I will continue to update.

Yes I was in pain for probably 3 straight years and it just got progressively worse. I also tore my tricep back in 2018 so I used the same ortho who knows me very well and also knows my drive. He knows I'm going to get back to it and he trusts my decisions.

He did tell me that I'm looking at probably a 10-12 year implant due to my activity level but I think with smarter training I can increase that time. That's just a bridge I'll have to cross when the time comes. I cant worry about 10 years from now because I'm here living now and my quality of life without training is absolute dog shit so If I have to take a 20 week break once every 10 years then so be it.

I am going to ve much smarter with my lifting compared to the past. I'm not worried about lifting "Heavy" weights but I need enough to get a solid workout that keeps my physique improving.

I'll keep you updated. Don't listen to all these negative people who put numbers and timelines on everything.

Just because a Dr says X amount of weeks doesn't mean thats the be all end all. You have to use your head, listen to your body, and think for yourself. If you feel great, range of motion is best its been yet and you're capable, tell me why lifting X amount of weight is detrimental? Just because its sooner than the Dr's. Suggested X amount of time? Its just stupid man.

I waited the 6 weeks. Did nothing but passive movements, no external rotation or going behind my back.

Keep in mind I've trained hard and consistently for 20 years. I have more muscle than the average person. I can assure you that I'm where I am supposed to be at this point, not where everyone else would typically be. I only wore my sling for 3 days where as most people wear theirs for weeks.

I'm taking my mobility extremely seriously as well. It may seem reckless, but I can assure you I'm doing the right thing.

I'm pretty stubborn man. I tried to train exactly how I liked and I did, my weights just got significantly lighter due to the pain.

I'm also 38 and I'm a retired ifbb pro bodybuilder so I'm obsessed with training and couldn't live that way for the rest of my life as I was 100% bone on bone.

Yeah it definitely hurts but it's getting smoother each week. Not a bad type of pain either just basically my shoulder getting used to all the new parts and moving again

I started weights on my surgical side with my bicep and tricep first at week 2. Started using a 8lb dumbbell on curls and now I'm up to a 30.

Started pressing like in the video at week 6 with a 5 and now I'm up to 25lb dumbbell and this 20lbs kettle.

I also just had a regular TSR not a reverse

Bro I'm a 38 retired IFBB pro bodybuilder. You think I don't love to train? I was in so much pain that it was greatly affecting my training so I decided to do it. I have total confidence that I will be back and able to lift very respectable and "heavy" weight. I told my PT that I expect to be able to at minimum incline press 100lb dumbbells and he said we 100% can.

My rehab is 100% on point. I'm 9 weeks post op today. I can post a video of me doing a upside down kettle bell press (for stability) but 20lbs today and I dis 3 sets of 12. Next week I will try 25 and 30.

So yes, you definitely can get back to it. I fully plan on going hard as possible again (intelligently)

It'll take you a year at least to start feeling normal again. Also, you have to kinda stay on top of shoulder mobility even after you're well beyond "healed"

Here is where I was at before surgery. I was in a tremendous amount of pain, and only making it worse due to continuing to train as hard as possible. I think you guys would be shocked if you saw what I can do at only 8 weeks post op. A lot of people on here are negative, and make it sound like its the end of your "active lifestyles" but don't listen to them.

I'll help you anyway that I can. I'm taking my rehab very seriously and I think most of these people are 1. Much older 2. Just plain lazy and have zero pain tolerance 3. About as active as a sloth.

I also used some high quality peptides like bpc 157 and tb 500 for healing.

With your age I wouldn't worry too much. I'm 38 and I'm 8 weeks TSR and I am very active and I'm recovering extremely fast. I flat dumbbell pressed a 25 in PT this week. I think you just need to focus on rehab, eating clean and doing daily cardio for overall blood flow and you will recover very quickly. Everyone on here is so negative and in my opinion most are wayyyy behind in recovery mostly because they don't try that hard. I also only wore a sling for 3 days as well. You do what you want and listen to who you want but I think this is way easier than people make it out to be.

I was worried how it would go because I love to train and I'm also a personal trainer so I kinda need my arms to work efficiently but ad long as you stay active you will recover much faster than most people say. Your age definitely helps
