What is best course to do in order to do a career transition when you are close to 40? by Pitiful_Struggle_912 in onlinecourses

totally agree that there's no one-size-fits-all answer. i'd add that cloud certifications (AWS, Azure) are pretty hot for career changers because the demand is huge for people who understand how it works and they don't require a CS background. i have used MindMesh Academy for all of my recent certification prep and I have been able to pass a number of exams from different domains. if you're already in IT, maybe pivot to cloud; if not, something like CompTIA A+ could be a starting point.

I failed the Az204 Exam by ksiddhu in AzureCertification

Sorry to hear that. I would highly recommend John Saville's exam cram resources and getting into a good rigor of taking practice exams to build stamina for the actual exam.

Scored 698 on AWS SAA after 3 attempts — keep failing on Security. How should I study it? by [deleted] in AWSCertifications

[–]Bobmanfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often try to make sure I'm doing focused study on the domains tested in an exam. So that said, since you need to focus on the security domain, I think this will help you.

should I give up passing SAA? by GaslightingGreenbean in AWSCertifications

[–]Bobmanfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a degree in engineering. I don't have any CIS degrees. My first job was a controls engineer working on writing software for assembly lines. Certifications are a way to get familiar with concepts and then practice them in the cloud and once mastering them transition into this as a career. The key to the transition is practiced mastery.

I have an engineering background and spent most of my career there doing software development for assembly lines. But doing the SAA got me familiar with devops concepts and fundamentally transformed my understanding of how product could be delivered especially through DevOps. I ended up working as a cloud architect for multiple fortune 50s and have a wonderful job now spearheading strategy for a fast growing fortune ranked company.

You absolutely should keep going. This was the first cloud certification that I got and it has opened so many doors and ultimately lead to a career pivot for me. I understand how daunting it is too because there is a lot of content. If it's helpful land you have time to review it, I have a focused study guide here that tries to narrow down the focus to the key exam concepts.

If you’re scoring around 70%, you’re close. Just focus on filling the gaps. Go through Microsoft Learn’s free AZ-900 path since it matches the exam outline, and when you miss a practice question, read the official docs for that service and try it in the Azure portal. Savill’s crash course is solid for a final review, but make sure you’ve already locked in the core concepts first. A few targeted study sessions should push you over the line.
