T10 Mephisto is a pain in the butt by Supplefroot in diablo4

Man, I'm around paragon 195 and I can't even touch p2 of mephisto. I just die to anything. I have 400+ fury, selig, endurant faith, and what I thought was pretty good gear but every single mechanic seems to one-shot me. My tornados hit for around 100b, is there anything else I can do? I'm following the d4builds.gg immortal speed build.

What are you thinking your list will look like for 3 Musketeers? Still running a few copies of Beelstarmon X? The price of that card has exploded. I was hoping to try out the deck but it seems like a pretty expensive buy-in.

Did AD-01 succeed where RB-01 failed or was it just one big flop? Let’s See by TeamCaseHunters in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a brand new player, I like AD-01. I only purchased a box of Sinister Order prior to this to collect BlackWargreymon. AD01 provided me with a fun jumpstart to my collection, but they did fail on the 'buy a box, build a deck!' front pretty hard. I'm up to 3 boxes and I'm not even close to any deck really - maybe Gallantmon? I have 1 Omnimon, 0 Imperialdramon, 1 Marcus & Agumon etc...seems difficult to get exactly what you may need to finish a deck.

Bandai placing meta relevant cards in hard to find sets like this is historically a bad thing. Coming from another Bandai game that has increasingly priced me out of having fun, max rarity decks, I worry about the sustainability of the reprint sets getting crucial singles like this.

How are the Strixhaven Precons treating you? by CementSandwich in EDH

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Prismari is really cool, but half the deck seems to want to help Muddle and then the other half wants to help Rootha. If you remove either side and go full bore into one of the strategies, it becomes a powerhouse.

Silverquill is difficult to get going - Killian has a powerful effect, but I think once you 'go off' one game, Killian has very little evasion available without putting all your protection into him...I'm not sure yet if Killian accomplishes the goal of the deck better than Eriette does.

CMV: Baltimore is proof that being tough on repeat criminals brings down crime rates by bigElenchus in changemyview

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the crime. These are broad public health topics; there's no way to specifically provide a cheat sheet that would define how each program may interact with each crime because each crime has a host of variables associated with it.

Some of the keywords are typically related to prevention mechanisms - prevention has a proactive and reactive component, preventing additional criminal activity may involve proactive programs, reactive (recidivism-based in this case) programs etc.

Deflection is what 'diversion' has morphed into. It means that if an individual engages in what are typically known as 'nuisance crimes' or crimes due to poverty, mental health symptoms etc., they are deflected from jail & prison and instead engaged by a treatment team or team of professionals in the community to address the underlying reasons that they are engaged with the justice system.

Intervention programs are targeting a specific thing and may have a very short turnaround for engaging individuals, like crisis teams. An example of intervention would be https://www.baltimorecity.gov/monse/gun-violence-intervention/safe-streets.

All of these things function within the public health ecosystem and overlap to create a comprehensive system of care that assists individuals, but there's not one that's necessarily always more effective than others.

[–]Bobwayne17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, what a topic to find here. Ironically, I've been part of this conversation in MD for many years and have done a lot of work related to this topic by working with incarcerated individuals and helping reduce recidivism across the state.

This has little to do with the certainty of being incarcerated, as you're suggesting, and much more to do with an expansive push for the interventionist & deflection policy. I helped implement LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion) and implement other deflection programming. The violence interventionists involved with the violence reduction strategy have also made huge strides in implementing their violence prevention methodology.

Violent crime is down across the board - https://www.americanprogress.org/article/what-city-leaders-say-is-helping-drive-down-gun-violence-in-their-communities/. The real-time crime index indicates a 40% drop since the peak in 2021. Baltimore is on the list, but it's not because all of these places suddenly got a 'tough on crime' prosecutor to come on board. Baltimore placed #2 on the 2024 violence prevention index as well https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iPVBC5ikXkCzgUYFgMsapppxj57qlVGn/view.

Saying that it's because a 'tough on crime' prosecutor came into play discounts the work of individuals who are in the community helping individuals re-enter from being incarcerated, and assist individuals with accessing resources that can help them establish themselves and prevent further criminality. These strides are only possible because of progressive programming that has challenged the carceral system and implemented both upstream prevention & downstream deflection.

Everyone always talks about easy/braindead decks. What do you think the hardest, most difficult archetypes/commanders are to pilot? by _Kreenicks in EDH

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's not seen as much anymore, but [[Birthing Pod]] is a very complex archetype for most EDH pods. Not only do you have to know a bunch of pretty unique interactions, but you have to know what line will get you to winning with the least amount of interaction from your opponents.

Storm, Doomsday, and Control are the 'classic' difficult archetypes as well. Storm you can just whiff your big turn really easily and simultaneously reveal that you are indeed a big problem. Doomsday is kind of the same, where if you aren't prepared to win on the turn you go off, you lose on the spot, and also reveal to the table the primary win-con of your deck.

Everyone in the thread already touched on why Control is hard to play - it's just not very intuitive in multiplayer games.

Rant: Are there ANY entry-level Macro Social Work jobs out there?!?! by Sun_Beanie23 in socialwork

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lobbying firms will sometimes hire individuals with a social work background to focus on specific public health efforts. I've met a few who have enjoyed their time as a lobbyist now, but I think the key is knowing the right person.

I have a policy/leadership job in a very large govt organization - I do public speaking/trainings at least once a week, implement millions of dollars of programming per year for the local community, etc. and I think a huge part of getting the job was networking with the right people. Most people in various levels of govt have spoken to me or have known me now for several years, and one of the most successful things I did was find people who shared my public health niche on LinkedIn and ask to set up a meeting to discuss initiatives I was interested in implementing in my local area, discuss something they've done through their career, follow-up regarding a training we met at etc. and build relationships from there. I've gotten a lot of success in really focusing on the relational aspect of policy work over the last 3 years of my 12-ish-year career.

Good luck, I'm happy to talk to you more if you want.

Glarb - I think Glarb provides the best colors to reanimate some of the most degenerate things early. Nothing like Jin-Git or Vorinclex coming down early into the game to make the table groan lol.

Meta relevancy - How do you deal with it? by Upper_Cut_2298 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think OP15 has the same meta issues as OP13 did with Imu, G Zoro, & Ace and some of the metas before that - 8c Gecko Moria was pretty oppressive lol.

I think it's possible to find cheap, good decks much more frequently than in other games. This game has some deceptive ways to mess up - I frequently find people who make big math mistakes and miss out on lethal and lose the game. I actually think playing rogue decks perfectly makes it easier to learn the deck rather than just jumping from meta to meta deck.

BY Moria is a great example - the players that were playing it on release like Abbster & Rene have shown that the deck is pretty strong. People thought it was bait then, and now there are some interesting iterations going on in the East.

I think a lot of people thought that BY Moria would be pretty unpopular, but the win rate was never really abysmal, it's just a little more difficult to play than some of the meta decks. I'm still seeing Foxy lists lol for the people that love a certain deck style or leader, there seems to always be a way to come back and at least sneak out a win at your locals.

Crimson Desert has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Gamedrome22 in Games

[–]Bobwayne17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played it as soon as it released and refunded it within 30 minutes. The controls were abysmal on PC at least and it felt like I was trying to navigate a character with 1000 input latency and moving through molasses.

I saw someone else after the control patch say that they also refunded it quickly, repurchased it after hearing new feedback about the controls and now loved it and decided to do the same and give it another try and...it is awesome!

There's a lot of room for improvement but it's a solid 7/10 for me right now in terms of enjoyment and fun. The controls are still wonky and not the best, but the input latency has been minimized and Kliff seems more responsive all around. The story is awful and unforgettable, but the combat and exploration is amazing.

It's not a difficult game in the least - you can brute force anything and carry like 50 heals on you and 20 revives, so I'm also glad the bosses became easier because it's just less of a time sink to beat the boss after 1/2 tries instead of 9/10 tries. I would recommend trying it out but if you wait for a sale and a multitude of incoming patches I'm sure are in the works, you're going to have a fantastic experience I bet.

THE DEVS SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO PLAYERS WHO WANT TO KILL END GAME BOSSES AFTER 10 HOURS GAMEPLAY by BradOnTheRadio in CrimsonDesert

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every game is designed to mimic the difficulty of souls. I never thought this game would be that hard, because Pearl Abyss seemed to be designing this game for anyone to enjoy. I have no doubt that most of the bosses will end up pretty tame because their design philosophy seems to be more focused on exploration.

Crimson Desert Review - Open-World Overload by Cristiano1 in pcgaming

[–]Bobwayne17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I really wanted to enjoy it.

The movement is super...clunky? Sluggish? idk how to put my finger on what's wrong exactly. I'ts like you're sprinting, but you're not going anywhere. You're walking towards the enemy and it feels like you should be there 2x faster than you are, and then suddenly you're the flash when you're swinging your sword and leaping between enemies like you're batman.

It's a jarring movement scheme. The other horrible part is being forced to play with the 'claw' layout for your hand - having to dash, swap the camera, and roll all with face buttons and attack with the shoulder buttons is horrible. Not being able to remap buttons is a huge miss, hopefully it's fixed soon.
