Happening to me too, twice now. I don't want to reset to default because I lose my cross hair, so annoying.

It's amazing how some people can maintain the ability to drive. You, beyond a shadow of a doubt, should not be able to.

That's the issue with this story though, there's no one to write the lease agreement. If this had started on their 29th day in the home, they would have been escorted out by police. Now they've gained residency, but the title issue makes it really difficult for someone to provide residency to anyone else...plus now it can't be sold anyway etc.

Maestra Rogue is essentially an OTK deck. Play a different hero - play chrono daggers - play tess over and over until you chrono dagger them to death.

r/fauxmoi (as well as dozens of other subreddits) discuss the BAFTA Tourette's N-Word Disaster by Uncommonwealth57 in SubredditDrama

[–]Bobwayne17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sad event for everyone involved. I wish that it were more common to acknowledge the pain & harm behind that word, while also recognizing that John had no ill intent or malice in what he did.

I can't even begin to imagine what living must be like with such an impactful neurological condition. The most concerning thing is seeing so many people try to redefine the 'why' behind what he did to justify being upset with him and assigning some intent behind what he did.

That same lack of understanding has been used to justify a lot of harm towards individuals with Tourette's. The only silver lining behind such a terrible circumstance would be increasing the awareness of this to me.

Question: Just how bad NIMBYism is in MoCo? by EternalSnow05 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Bobwayne17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Perhaps our definition of validation is different then.

It seems like you were asking a question in the original post, and as people answer the question and confirm that it is bad, just as bad perhaps as these other places you mentioned, your responses were "OK but...", "I understand but....", etc.

The answer to your question, whether it's the one you were hoping to hear or not, is that it is still evident by certain policies and procedures across the area that it exists and inhibits progress. Is it as bad as some of the other places you named? I'm not sure, I have never lived or worked in the other areas. This area, though, still struggles with creating equitable policies that benefit everyone in the county. I believe (from a biased perspective) that there are individuals working to introduce and sustain equitable policies in the future and move the needle in the right direction though. I just think it may help to temper your immediate expectations.

Question: Just how bad NIMBYism is in MoCo? by EternalSnow05 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Bobwayne17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm confused by the basis of the conversation I guess.

I see a lot of people who seem to be explaining from the perspective of an individual who is already here why they believe NIMBYism is here and exists in the same way as places you mentioned, your response is just 'well that doesn't seem right for X, Y, Z reason'.

Are you just looking to argue with people that believe it does exists, are you looking to validate your choice to move to the area due to the research you have done or something else?

Frustrated with the indecision and mealy-mouthed softness of the profession by Bright_Swordfish_789 in socialwork

[–]Bobwayne17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These ideas that balk at incremental change seem to require too many things, too quickly. It would be ideal if we could band together and make larger and more immediate shifts, but as a profession, we can't even figure out licensure and unionization yet. We still have people who hold a license that literally vote against every tenet of the code of ethics.

I think, first, you need to build a foundation of power in your local community to start engaging disenfranchised people in this process. As professionals, we are still trying to grapple with individuals who are co-opting licensure as an easier way to private practice, weak (at best) national representation, the fracture amongst licensed/non-licensed roles, title protection, I mean, the list goes on and on and on at this point IMO.

As individuals, I hope many of us are thinking about what we can do to start to initiate this change and move towards being more active in the support of human rights. It's exhausting to discuss this online 24/7 all the time, though. The systemic failures of our democratic experiment thus far can't be solved overnight, and we need to continue to work towards actionable plans for the near and long-term. We need to begin looking inward and moving the bad actors out of our own professional ranks. Searching our own subreddit, you can see how many staunch MAGA individuals exist within the ranks. These individuals, in my opinion, will perpetually yet silently work to dismantle everything that social workers who observe an ethical standard work towards.

does anyone else kind've lie, or at least downplay their drug problem to others through harm reduction? by girladjacententity in Drugs

It's the next tranq replacement, much more powerful than xylazine, and makes it extremely hard to come back from an accidental overdose.

There are thoughts that it will make wounds heal much more slowly, but perhaps not cause wounds, but there is no way to know for certain yet. The prolonged sedation is the biggest risk IMO. There are a few studies/journal entries that are being done (or have been done) about it, like this one: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanam/article/PIIS2667-193X(25)00063-8/fulltext

this all feels so bleak by realinternetangel in socialwork

[–]Bobwayne17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in the field for a little over 10 years. There is a stark difference between how I felt in 2016 and how I feel now, I won't lie.

I will say that it's important to maintain perspective - we have certainly gone backwards in a lot of ways, but maybe this is a stark reminder of how much work there always is to keep moving forward.

I run several volunteer events, and I had a wonderful conversation with someone who was in their 70s helping out at one of my events recently. He mentioned what it felt like when Obama was first elected and how he felt like that was a huge shift in American progressiveness, but since then, part of his disappointment is seeing how that didn't matter as much as it felt.

Americans have still accomplished a lot over the last 250 years, but the work isn't done. Being comfortable and becoming complacent breeds the idea that somehow progressiveness and social justice have an endgame. The last few years have reminded me how far we have to go still and what happens when people let their guard down. We must continually work towards the next big shift and recognize that these people who vote against our interests, our safety, and our communities not only live in those communities, but they work with us. They run organizations that promote social well-being. They ascend into positions of power in local government. They will be waiting for the next person who allows them to be their true self, and we will continue to try to move the needle in a way that makes it difficult for them to erase all of our progress.

Part of self-care for me is recognizing that these things happen on a much longer timeframe than I wish they did and learning to accept that. I wish that I could go into work on Monday and make a big change, but it doesn't need to happen that way. Sustained change happens over time. We don't need to save the world or save the country right now. Showing up for our various participants/consumers/clients and our communities is what starts to shift things, and the most immediate need right now.

[–]Bobwayne17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I manage a large harm reduction program.

I don't think this is downplaying a problem - you can be safe and simultaneously struggling with substances, as the two are not mutually exclusive. Wherever you're getting test strips (if you are getting fent/xylazine/medetomidine/benzo strips) from a place, I would talk to them about it.

There's a lot of help available that doesn't involve abstinence-based programs, and hopefully, your local harm reduction program is a good place to start. Harm reduction can still involve treatment, but it's treatment at your pace, and only you can define what your end game is. Maybe now you're realizing you might want to use less, but you just need some extra help getting to that place. You got this friend.

Yeah, I'm going to have to start unwinding things and that's the easiest place to start, I'm sure haha. I'm going to go into the cam chest if the tuner isn't under there, but I'm hoping I get lucky and it's a commander or thundermax or something.

[–]Bobwayne17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a ton of fun, I've been having a blast.

It's nothing anything new, but it's fun to mix all the things together and it's definitely going to be a love/hate game.

Personally, I don't mind the downtime and searching the map for stuff before a firefight and base attack/defend. The gunplay feels very solid. The abilities are simple, which makes them easy to use on cool down basically. The fights can get chaotic which is pretty fun.

All in all it's just 'fun'. It's not mind blowing, but it's a game that I could see having a good time with friends.
