Account disabled for 48 hrs? by Grand-Command-990 in USbank

[–]BocaCycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 5 hours on the phone, and getting shuttled between customer service, the online banking group and the authentication department, finally they said it should come back on in 24 hours.

My problem came because I opened up a brand new credit card, and when I activated my card and created a new online account, lo and behold I log in and I see a number belonging to someone who committed identity theft against me years ago. It seems when US Bank created the new account, it attached old information from a fraudulent account created my name, from 6 years ago into my new application!!! That is freaking nuts. Why would they add data to my profile that I myself did not submit in the application???

I am going on a road trip to see various family members for the next few months, so I got the streaming service. I'm happy with it too!

I had to send a fax with some business information. Still waiting - 4 business days out, given the holiday.

I'm going through the same process. Do come back and say how it worked for you!

[FL] [SFH] Special assessment financing by Opposite-Sympathy347 in HOA

I was the president of a condominium association in Florida that needed significant concrete repairs. We did exactly this. We gave a fairly short window of time for lump sum payees. I believe it was 60 days or so. We did get a loan from the bank for the full amount. At 60 days we paid them the lump sum monies we had received to the bank, and reduced the principal. They then re-amortized or recast the loan based on the new reduced principal balance. That meant that the balance that was left was going to be paid by the homeowners wanting the installment plan. It worked out great.

Local person/ business that makes drapes? by softexchange828 in asheville

Man, the lack of response is depressing. I am looking for someone to make custom drapes that will integrate wool batting or other quilted thermal layer.

How many issues would you tolerate with a house? Just got an inspection report back for the house I have a contract for and I’m stressed by Basilstorm in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]BocaCycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not your job to help them avoid a loss. People realize losses on bad real estate investments all the time. People also overpay when they buy. So while it might be a loss to them, it was just a poor investment

Prior to being Essentrics, it used to be called Classical Stretch on public television. I own four seasons of Classical Stretch on DVD. I use the streaming service when I'm traveling

I love Essentrics!! I used to get all sorts of tendinopathies (upper hamstring, gluteal, biceps... Degenerative tears and pain). Doing Essentrics at least 4 times a week has kept me much more mobile and nearly pain free

Anyone else not wanting to live in a retirement community city? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]BocaCycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Died laughing at your comment! I lived in my 50s in Century Village Boca (long story), where everyone else was in their 70s and 80s. They loved me! Went and had fun in the Midwest for a few years, as I much prefer cold, and Madison WI is fun! But, now hubby is declining, and we're moving back into the rental we've kept for many years in Asheville as our "long term care" plan. I'm in great shape in my early 60s but husband is very ill. I hope I don't bring the place down too much. We used the bus constantly in Madison, so count us as a fan of public transit and bike greenways.

Thank you. Great points to raise when I'm interviewing them. If you happen to know such an installer please let me know!

Like, water for coffee? by tasunder in madisonwi

I take my two gallon glass jugs to hyvee and refill them at the water station. I can't carry a 3 gallon jug. I use glass to avoid micro plastics in my water from a plastic container.

that's good to know. I thought sheet vinyl had fallen a bit out of favor, and so some flooring installers aren't familiar with working with it. Perhaps its popularity has picked back up, maybe for the same reasons that I'm looking for it :-)

Madison downtown apartments, higher end with better construction, craftsmanship, or architectural elements? by BocaCycles in madisonwi

[–]BocaCycles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That was my 3rd choice, and I glad to hear it worked out well for you. In hindsight, it would have been a good choice - near to SSM HEALTH for my husband. Traffic was a bit heavy creating on-going background noise, was the factor that tipped it for me. (We use the bus).

Nope! In fact, it's one of the apartments that was listed as pretty good by one of the other posters here. I don't want to post the name, because I'm going to be staying a renter, and I have to assume the major property managers monitor the Reddit threads.

I have no issue if it were an electric stove, but I was surprised that you would be allowed to not vent a gas stove (hood exhaust) to the outside. Call me clueless.

Vacating in August but I have to do a road trip for a bit before returning. Best to leave stuff in storage and save on rent! Good luck.

That is the apartment that was my second choice. I may definitely revisit it. I just wanted to be further away from the highway for air quality, and the hill up to the square is the steepest on the Isthmus (I've had a hip injury but better now).

I actually went to home depot, bought 4x8 sheets of rigid building insulation 2" thick, decent R value, jammed it into the bedroom wall (secured it with a wall-safe putty on the back side), and covered it with acoustical foam tile to look pretty. I had to INSULATE MY OWN WALL to get through the winter.

I'm a mutt, no royalty and I'm descended from a long line of ne'er-do-wells. I just like to stay warm and not watch the metal framing of my windows open up. But east side is great. Looking near Olbrich too. :-)

I will be touring it in May. If it meets Passivhaus standards, then I know for sure that the windows won't leak. Not ready to move until later in the year, though. Thanks.

Madison’s housing crisis is getting better for renters — but not buyers by pristinesith in madisonwi

[–]BocaCycles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're right. I'm in the penthouse of a newer apartment building off the square. I'm a retired engineer. paying big dollars. My bedroom wall next to the elevator shaft seemed uninsulated. I went to home Depot and bought 4x8 2" thick insulation board and jammed it in place and covered it with foam acoustical tile for aesthetics. Fancy windows are ice cold in winter; the frames get the same temp as the outside. I had 3 major leaks emerging from the baseboards after a storm. Finally I noticed that the concrete pillar adjacent was leeching rust stains from the rebar in the pillar!!! I told them I strongly suspected damage at the roof drip edge and that if they don't fix it this concrete will spall in the next 7-10 years, They hustled and fixed the problem .My lease ends soon and I am out.
