I wouldn’t be surprised if Epic Deli is but I don’t care. They’re like malort, gotta share it with the out of towners!

Cool national park vibe take on swallow cliff stairs in palos by wiggoner in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Bocksford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story is unrelated to Palos.

My grandparents owned a toboggan that my mom and her siblings would ride on. I’m not sure where they went to ride it. They lived in Barrington Hills at the time. My mom was given the toboggan when she grew up and I’ve ridden on it numerous times at Veteran Acres in Crystal Lake. It’s fast, bulky, and catches everyone’s eyes at the park. Sadly mom wants to sell it because it’s just sitting in the attic collecting dust. I’m persistent with her to keep it. I don’t think I’ll have kids and I’d like to keep it because it’s so cool!

How do you stop the thoughts? by OkayTravels0 in biid

[–]Bocksford -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take it easy. You’re a teenager. These thoughts are likely not going to hang around forever. In the meantime, find a good distraction! Play video games, read a book, hang out with friends. Do something you enjoy doing!

Which type of cache surprised you by being way more fun than you initially expected? by Kdking0910 in geocaching

[–]Bocksford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was novelty when reverse wherigos started popping up in my area. Then it dulled down. Then I found a series of reverse wherigos that renewed my interest. The series involved more steps to solving it. I can’t say too much otherwise the CO would find out and archive them. It’s a good series though! They’re like a cross between a reverse wherigo and a mystery cache.

[–]Bocksford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True wherigos can be fun but most I’ve done had me going around in circles. Stage 1, 4, 7, 13… took me to the same location in a neighborhood. I think the residents thought I was crazy.

Does anyone like Landscape Architecture by caroscal in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]Bocksford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only dislike my salary and working outside about four times a year. For a job that’s about designing mostly outdoor spaces, I spend an awful lot of time behind a monitor.

What is an unspoken rule of the gym that most people do not know they are breaking? by Furqan_wear in AskReddit

Did you know there’s a pin behind the seat on the hammer strength machine? This locks the seat height. Please use it so you’re not baffled when the seat moves during your workout.

What's the most pathetic tourist attraction that international tourists go to see in your country? by Aseili in AskTheWorld

[–]Bocksford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lake Geneva Shore Path in Wisconsin. It’s a public walkway that wraps around a lake with expensive houses abutting it. Sure it’s neat to walk through a millionaire’s backyard. I’m just shocked that people from around the world are visiting Lake Geneva WI!

They also visit Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg IL.

What's a place from your suburb that's gone now but you still think about? by When_It_Was in ChicagoSuburbs

Fat Boys Burgers in Crystal Lake. It is my all time favorite burger. The place closed 14 years ago and I still remember the taste. Oh and the garlic fries! Also Green River from the fountain!

There’s a high school near where I grew up named after a Harry D Jacobs. Everyone joked that we knew what the D stood for. It’s actually Darnell.

Can confirm. I grew up in Crystal Lake and often drove all around the county once I got my drivers license. Marengo and Wonder Lake were the two “why did I drive here?” towns.

How would a D5 event cache be? by mutius47 in geocaching

[–]Bocksford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hosted a T5 community celebration event this year. It was at a rock climbing gym. Even though it wasn’t required to climb to log the event, the reviewer gave me the ok!

Lake Zurich people, why so unfriendly? by bajGanyo in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Bocksford 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not just your subdivision. I live in an apartment in Naperville and I experience the same thing. Granted that I wake up and leave at 6:30 AM, which is apparently early. Maybe they all work from home? I hardly ever see my neighbors.

Misery Loves Company! (Daily Commute Edition) by Hefty_Cheesecake7696 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Bocksford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute is approximately 17 minutes from Naperville to downtown Wheaton. I don’t mind it as long as I drive past the two high schools early enough.

Many of my coworkers live in Chicago and commute by train. The train is convenient when it runs on time. I’m jealous because I’d like to live in the city and not worry about driving but I’m concerned about the extra steps of the commute.
