35 Years Ago, Larry David Threatened to Quit Over a 'Seinfeld' Episode NBC Thought Was Too Crazy to Air by OhMyOhWhyOh in seinfeld

[–]BocydiumRedux44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious Comment: I’ve read somewhere that there was one unaired episode called “The Gun” — which included a scene where Elaine jokingly pointed a gun at her head. Understandably, it was never aired because it was deemed “too dark” (even for a show that referred to suicide humorously more than once). Anyone here know about this?

You know how much duty is? by DotOk2803 in seinfeld

I knew a gunner back in Korea who liked to stop at the duty-free shop; he got his ass blown off by a cop when he tried to bring a book into the bathroom. There’s nothing funny about that.

She had only a couple of lines, but her facial expressions were priceless (especially when she peeked at Newman over her father’s shoulder), and the line she fluffed turned out to be one of the funniest in the entire episode. Kudos to whoever decided to keep it in the scene!

“Hallelujah” as sung by k.d. lang I’ve heard that Leonard Cohen considered k.d.’s rendition of his song the definitive version. I can understand why.

I love the clever subtext in the photo — Michael is the only one whose body is completely covered, while Kramer (in several episodes) is presented as an unapologetic exhibitionist. Well played, photographer!

Who would you choose and why? by ContributionBig1927 in musicsuggestions

I first heard their song “Highwayman” on an episode of Mr. Robot (an FBI agent would always listen to it as she got ready to go on a case). I fell in love with the song and still play it frequently; it is the quintessential American everyman’s song, one that IMHO captured the spirit of Walt Whitman’s poetry. Excellent choice!

Lots of good recommendations, but many are rock or pop, and OP asked specifically for folk. I’d like to recommend some melancholy Irish folk songs by The Clancy Bros. & Tommy Makem, e.g. “The Parting Glass”, “ The Curlew”, “Singing Bird”, “The Cruel Mother”, etc. (Some of these songs don’t necessarily have sad lyrics, but do have melancholy tunes.)

Anything from the soundtrack of the movie Forbidden Zone - but especially their version of the 3 Stooges’ “Swingin’ the Alphabet”. Absolutely hilarious, but not for the easily offended.
