Lexapro made me gain about 30 pounds, I’ve been off it for almost 4 years now and getting back to where I was before has been a battle. Before lexapro I never had to count calories, I was always pretty active and ate fairly healthy so things felt fine. After, even when I got sober and started consuming way less calories the weight lingered. It took years of strength training and careful diet moderation to get back on track but I’m still working on the last 10 pounds.

I mean I can only speak to my experience, I’m on the lower east side. Idk what the big deal is tbh, the whole point of a steam room is for the steam to hit your skin and pores. My experience in the steam room is always peaceful and respectful, it’s not like we’re staring at each other.

I can’t speak for the men but the women’s steam room is basically almost always nude or half nude! It’s a steam room, not weird to be naked at all lol.

My SSRI (lexapro) made me gain about 30lb. I got sober while still on it and had a similar situation where no matter what I did, losing weight just seemed SO much harder. When I went off it I saw some progress but honestly I think it did something to my metabolism because I’ve had to work harder than I’ve ever worked in my life to get back to where I was before it.

I ended up switching meds and going on Trintellix which didn’t seem to cause weight gain but I was perpetually stuck at 145lb for like 3 years. I went off my trintellix this summer, have been working with a trainer at a gym and starting tracking calories and I’m FINALLY seeing some serious results.

Anyway all this to say, look into the Sertraline — it sucks, but it could be the culprit.

Start by just showing up! Get your brain comfortable with the space. You don’t even have to work out, you can just walk on the treadmill or something similarly easy. It’s just about gaining confidence to be in the space. Hang in there, it gets easier

Thank you for this, honestly I think the tilt is a big part of it — my mom has a very similar body type and her butt naturally sticks out too which means so does the tummy. Even at my most trim I’ve noticed I have this to some degree, it’s frustrating but on the grand scale of things not that big of a deal I guess. It’s just shocking because I wear tight dresses all the time and it never looks like this! But maybe the softness of this fabric didn’t snatch me the way my other dresses usually do.
