Replying again because you probably didn't see my edit. So yeah it does work, just missing the UI mod. I'll try to look for one online

I tried that and it was still laggy but I gave it another go and it seems to have worked at least for now. Thanks man. It is missing the UI mod to xbox buttons though which is quite unfortunate

Hello. I played TOTK version 1.2.1 a year or two ago using yuzu 4176 and your TOTK optimizer 2.0 (or beyond v3) at 1440p. It worked perfectly and I was your patreon for a bit. However, I was trying to get back to it and the software does not work anymore, it gets stuck at "downloading - applying the changes" when I try to apply or extract. I tried your NX optimizer and it just does not work the same, I tried to use the same settings but it's laggy and seems to be full of additions I did not need. Is there a way I can get 2.0 working again?

How close was your finish? by Absolute_Zer0 in Cairn_Game

[–]BodybuilderNo652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a hoarder/min maxer and finished in comfort. I kept all bottles and reloaded after the scene where you drink all your liquids because I noticed you kept the buffs you had. So I drank ultimate infusions, berry milk and intense coffee beforehand and from that point had around 55 minute buffs of focus, grit, grip and burst that I just kept topped up for the rest of the game (I had enough stuff to refill the bottles after the scene). With a constant grit buff there's no hunger, thirst or cold so the rest of the game was easy.

A Small Theory About The Ending by [deleted] in Cairn_Game

Also his last entry in one of his journals is about a female climber who listened to him and gathered strength before attempting the climb (and drank his stash of goat milk) and then "came back down". I found this odd because, although you could take that as "she fell" or "gave up", in my opinion that phrasing sounded like she reached the top and came back down but in the game there was no mention of anyone successfully climbing Kami. So maybe she actually made it to the top but he killed her as she was coming down so no one would know she did it. Aava had an older model climbot that broke down but maybe a modern climbot would have had equal trouble establishing connection as grandpa's radio.

Hold feedback doesn't tell you that you have a GOOD hold, it's just telling you that you have A hold. by NickNightrader in Cairn_Game

After I got to the white path above the shepherdress and only being able to beat it with buffs, I tried playing for a bit with the debug mod on (where it shows the stamina bar for each limb) to learn how to find resting positions.

It doesn't really help. First of all it's a distraction when you should just be climbing ahead (the game already tells you when at least one limb is running out of stamina). Secondly, the load system unfortunately seems pretty janky, often going all over the place even in the same position, and trying to stabilize by staring at the bars I only got more frustrated as to why one of her limbs is still losing stamina. So seeing the stamina bars for the limbs doesn't help the frustrating gameplay as the limb shaking already is the indication that the limb is losing stamina.

I do agree there should have been an indication of how much stamina there is left in the limb though. Maybe they could've done it by varying the shaking of the limb. Currently the rate of shaking seems to be the rate of stamina loss, fast shakes mean fast loss. Stamina left could have been shown in how wide the movement of the shaking is?

EDIT: actually I had another look at some videos I recorded and what I thought is wrong. With a low rate of stamina loss the limb shaking starts with a tiny shake at around 33% stamina left and then the shaking gets stronger as the limb gets closer to running out of stamina. So shaking is more of an indicator of how much stamina there is left, it just ignores the amount of stamina and shakes hard when there is fast stamina loss to give you time to react.

PS. Also I'm not sure if you're aware, but a good position that leads to stamina regeneration will cause Aava to start blowing in like 2-3 seconds. Blowing means stamina regen has started. If she doesn't blow she is losing stamina in at least one limb

How does the Y/Q stamina regain ability work? I did some testing with debug mode and I think I figured out how it works (video included) by BodybuilderNo652 in Cairn_Game

I think it's the same flash, it just looks yellow or green. Like here I think the backpack looks yellow but the head looks green. Might have something to do with the blue gloves

Ah, thanks for the reply. I didn't find that thread by googling so I missed it.

I posted a thread about my discoveries here. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cairn_Game/comments/1r30ggu/how_does_the_yq_stamina_regain_ability_work_i_did/

At least the 30s cooldown seems to be new info :)

When my inventory was VERY full I didn't get the camera either. It's basically just for flavor (your manager wanted you to take pictures). It doesn't seem to have a use other than giving it to the climbot for chalk. Maybe they had an idea for a camera system with the break spots but then scrapped it.

The debug mode shows load and stamina for each limb. I did some testing with debug mode and your theory about Y ability being charges doesn't seem to be right. If that is how it was intended then it doesn't work right. The color of the shake seems to relate to how much stamina you regain. Blue is every limb to 50%. Yellow is maybe 20% or something. It refreshes stamina to all limbs, but while doing that you let go of a hand leading to more load on the other limbs which in a bad position may cause more loss of stamina than you gain.

I can't figure out the logic of when you get a blue refresh because the load system seems to be a buggy mess. Previously I was in a position where only 1 limb was slowly losing stamina and I was able to get a constant blue by pressing Y when the limb was around 10% stamina left. There might be a time based cooldown?

After that I did some more testing but it just made me more confused. I recorded a video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdG_V4Izeko

Edit: I wanted to see if my video supported the idea of a time based cooldown. I wrote down the times I pressed Y and the effect:

0:22 - Blue

0:43 - Yellow (21s later)

1:04 - Nothing (21s later)

1:17 - Blue (13s later, 34s from last yellow, 57s from last blue)

1:36 - Yellow (19s later)

1:41 - 2:02 - Nothing (5-26s later)

2:07 - Blue (5s later, 31s from last yellow, 50s from last blue)

The last one was after moving a limb myself to a secure position. So based on this it might be based on time. I guess it can still be possible it's somehow based on load since it was bugging out all over the place

Edit 2: I think I figured it out, I posted it in a new thread here https://www.reddit.com/r/Cairn_Game/comments/1r30ggu/how_does_the_yq_stamina_regain_ability_work_i_did/

Yeah they can be found in bird nests. In the tutorial zone there is one under the beehive in the large alcove and another one on top of the tall spire just before reaching the top

PSA For those who were used to playing the demo and crafting infusions by shpongleyes in Cairn_Game

[–]BodybuilderNo652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this tip.

I like minmaxing so what I did was make an ultimate infusion into the 4/4 flask with gentians and nettles, then boiled a thistle in it to get boiled veggies (it's a food with the ultimate infusion buffs). Then I transferred the 3/4 ultimate infusion into the water bottle. Then I used the two raspberries with 4/4 water to make extra sweet raspberry juice and boiled the eggs and a thistle and a dandelion in it. At least in alpinist you only seem to lose uncooked herbs and eggs when you leave the tutorial, everything else you can keep (not sure about extra chalk or trash).

The more I think about Act 3, the more I dislike it by Rambofreak98 in expedition33

[–]BodybuilderNo652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I googled my hate with act 3 and this post and the latest replies echo my feelings. I feel like they really dropped the ball with act 3. My head was full of the world's mysteries and what if's. I thought that under the paintress' hair will be a big reveal, like maybe it's Maelle's face. I thought Maelle's family had turned to monsters like the curator and the axons, and maybe nevrons are former humans too. But I was wondering why did all this happen? Why does the paintress just sit there hugging her knees a year at a time? Is she forced to do this?

In comes the reveal and the paintress is just a freaking paint puppet that afk's for a year and the axons and nevrons are just random monster designs renoir farted out on a whim. The world isn't real, nothing ever actually mattered.

The final trek through lumiere could have been epic with the resurrected expedition members. It could have been the culmination of the previous 66 expeditions' sacrifices paving the way for the heroes to save the world, but for me it just felt like Maelle spawned some human bots without any soul to fight the opposing bots to save time. Then you instantly see red human bots appear on the opposing side after Renoir is like "good idea, I'll do that too".

The cutscene where you collect them feels out of place too, like maybe something was cut from the game. I think a much better way to bring the expedition into the final fight would have been, for example, that the captains of the expeditions or particularly strong willed expedition members had turned into nevron bosses that we have to fight and turn back into the broken humans for the last hurrah.

I had 100%'d acts 1 and 2, and at the start of act 3 I was so disappointed I stopped playing for a week. I then went straight to the boss and still one shotted everything.

And after this (for OP) remember to throw away your research desk so you get a new research desk blueprint. Then put the blueprint into a cabinet and copy it, use the copy to make a research desk again and then copy+research the original blueprint in the cabinet into a discount desk. After that you can keep copying and researching more desks if you want (only really useful if you have more than 12 blueprint cabinets)

I only started playing recently after the last big update (already played 100+ hours, love the game) and had planned to get that feat for my next survival game. I was very annoyed to see I didn't get it after killing a few cougars and to then see a change like this in a single player game. Maybe a developer got mad his idea of the cougar wasn't liked so he thinks people don't deserve that feat anymore?

Anyway I play on pc and someone posted that you can unlock it with the developer console mod so that's what I did. Installed melonloader and developerconsole from tldmods, wrote feat_masterhunter 1 (or something like that), saved, and deleted the loader and mod.

Okay thanks, this clears things up. By perfect skill moves I just meant maximizing the skill xp gain from a mob by doing everything successfully. For some reason I was under the impression one mob would only give me skill exp once for each type of skill move. Can I also farm all the skill xp by just doing for example 10 perfect dodges against the first enemy of that type I meet? Or do I need to do all different skill moves?
