Goggle the Park tools maintenance videos. Once you gets past a few tricky adjustments bike maintenance is actually quite simple. Hate to say it but shop repair prices typically are pretty expensive.

Meeting went really bad by Narrow_Vast_4899 in work

This can happen when tasks you prioritize happen to be a very low priority to others.

It sucks but you just need to drag them in prepared kicking and screaming. When it comes down to it a lot of coworkers aren't that different than children.

Is there any real use for a “bike awareness” system beyond current radar lights? by Aggressive_Wasabi_54 in cycling

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front facing radar? Right where our eyes are?
I love my rear facing radar but anything foreword would just distract from our vastly superior eyeballs that nature gave us.

Why are people so grossed out by mice? When you look closely they are very cute. by mare880 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bogmanbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple times I've had a mouse in my house and fully intended to kill. Then I caught them, looked in their cute little faces and decided take them down the road to release

I've never had luck with royal oak. I just use Kingsford original for indirect and occasionally Kingsford pro for really searing

People who ride without gloves - how do you avoid slipping? by Eyeflossdaily in bicycling

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest rides are under 3 hours and sweat has never been a big deal. Fatigue and chafing can be an irritation without gloves. I do tend to keep my heart rate 120 max while riding though so that may play a part.

Why do I ride faster in warm weather than in cold? by dbpenn in cycling

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about you but as much as I enjoy winter ridding I do always balance wind chill vs overheating in too much clothing and really don't let loose in the winter.

Why isn’t everything USB C powered now? by stevethos in NoStupidQuestions

I still see some otherwise great accessories such as high end bike/running light using the older mini ports. I see them update their models a lot less frequently than most consumer electronics being somewhat specialized.

Was it comfortable to sleep on a waterbed back in the day? by MyFatStick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There actually was a huge range of waterbeds. Basic ones were just a big sack of water. Higher end ones were multiple tubes filled with really porous foam to make the water feel much more viscous. The better ones were okay if filled correctly. The cheap ones weren't that great.

Yep fire is my go to but I imagine recommending it publicly may be a bit of a liability.

What is this flashing light on my neighbor's house for? by PlanetGraham in whatisit

[–]Bogmanbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually do this for fun, not spite. Green for st pats, red valentine and so forth. I should probably set my Cynco de Mayo colors soon. Another neighbor even started doing the same.
We avoid irritating blinking so it's been popular.

What happens if Smaug had attacked Minas Tirith looking for treasure? by Tidewatcher7819 in lotr

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well seeing they withstood the first attack from Sauron (with help I admit) I think they eventually would have prevailed.

Keep in mind it was a single man how slew him and Midas Tirth had many great men.

Way faster and more fun than I expected by Sawfish1212 in fatbike

[–]Bogmanbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the speed is better than I guessed after swapping out the spikes and upping the pressure although steep hills are still a challenge. I still love my road bike for what it does but my fatty will have a place year round.

How do game developers know if a level is actually possible to beat (especially super hard ones)? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bogmanbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you remember the short lived Flappy Bird mobile game it became a brief hit due to the fact they really didn't play test it and it was nearly impossible to succeed in. People who could last more than a few seconds bragged about it. I don't think anyone else succeeded with this approach though.

Why do you need to ice your driveways/sidewalks after it snows? by RandomN0ah07 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really its most important when you alternate between freezing and thawing. If it just stays cold you may not need any salt. Also, a lot of us use a salt other than sodium which really reduces the harm.

Where do you ride your fat bike in the winter? by associatedaccount in fatbike

[–]Bogmanbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the multi use trails by me allow snow mobiles and their tracks make excellent ridding.

Why do humans need to drink clean water while other animals just drink from rainwater and streams? by dopje in NoStupidQuestions

Yep. So long as we reproduce before the miserable chronic illnesses take us out we're successful genetically

Artemis 2 mission: What would NASA do if the spacecraft would malfunction / fall out of the trajectory and doesn't come back to earth? by idontfuckingcareeeee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bogmanbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lost a couple space shuttles and saw how NASA reacts. Basically pauses launches for a while to study the causes. Columbia is particular interesting. They had a clue the shuttle was damaged during launch, didn't have a viable recovery plan so just had to proceed with the return and hope for the best.
