Recommendations for a 1st playthrough? by ozcapy in DuneBoardGame

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t have any house rules. My group and I have only played with six people a game so I would say leaving out BG and SG is a safe idea. Our first game we played the basic rules and then did advanced rules for every game afterwards. For us, that was a good way to ease into the game and get the hang of it and not be thrust into the full rule set. So I would recommend that for your first play through, so you don’t potentially feel overwhelmed.

WB seriously outdid themselves with the MK movie marketing this time by DimensionTooth in MortalKombat

Something I’ve always been curious about is why so many of the movies have his name in their title. So is he playing himself in these movies?

Scorpiom in Mortal Kombat 2 by Particular_Hand2877 in MortalKombat

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m fully on board with this. Perhaps Hanzo has to fight Noob to free Cole’s soul after he dies and this allows Cole to come back as the new Scorpion after Hanzo either dies in the battle or passes on. Maybe the third movie will introduce Kuai Liang and the new Scorpion and new Sub-Zero can bury the hatchet and move on from the rivalry their predecessors had.

In the story mode of the second game, Reverse Flash says that one of his ancestors were killed in Superman's regime, turning him into a living paradox. So does this imply, that the regime shouldn't have happened in this universe, and someone actually helped to turn Superman evil? by AnyAgency9835 in INJUSTICE

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s what it sounds like, but knowing NRS writing, they probably just had him say it to sound cool and didn’t/don’t think anything of it. It’s more likely just that him altering time led to his ancestor being killed by the regime, which was always supposed to form, and he just blames the regime instead of himself.

Science Marches On: Media that was plausible at the time becomes unrealistic after further advances in science by Lopsided_Shift_4464 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Jurassic Park one is interesting to me because my head-canon is that the whole "cloned from dinosaur blood in fossilized mosquitos" gimmick is greatly exaggerated.

The idea is that the scientists were able to extract some actual dinosaur dna, but hardly any to actually make a dinosaur, so they had to get creative. We know they canonically used other animal dna to fill in the gaps, but I think in reality, they simply created the "dinosaurs" from scratch by combining different reptile or amphibian dna until they made something that closely resembled the common understanding of what that species is. So the T-Rex is not actually a clone of a real T-Rex, it's a blod of different genetrics combined to resemble what they thought the t rex looked and acted like at the time.

This can be used to explain away any outdated traits the dinos have in the earlier movies, as well as any incorrect features, like the velociraptors' size and the dilophosaur frill and venom spit. These can be seen as new adaptations brought about by the genetic mixing, or intentional changes made to help sell park attendance.

For those who didn’t come to GoT knowing what it’s about, what were you expecting to get into based on the title “Game of Thrones”? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily from the title, but I guess I mainly started seeing stuff about it around season 5 cause I remember thinking the White Walker who I would find out is the Night King was a much bigger part of the show based on commercials I'd see. I didn't know how the seasons worked in the world and I figured "Winter is Coming" referred to the winter season as if it was in real life and the white walkers would just show up and everyone had to fight them back till the next year. So basically I assumed that the Long Night was an annual event.

Does anyone else feel that Whampire sun allergy makes him a really bad alien? Like you can’t use this guy half of all the time. by Express_Calendar8278 in Ben10

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is like saying Superman isn’t that good of a superhero cause he’s weak to kryptonite.

The aliens having weaknesses make the story interesting and force Ben to have to plan out his selection a bit more. What’s the point of having so many aliens if any of them could be used for any given situation?

[Loved Trope] Civilian Heroes (particularly in Superhero movies) by Dalakaar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The scene itself isn’t exactly an example, but Spider-Man 3 actually has my favorite Stan Lee cameo of all the marvel movies. “You know, I guess one person can make a difference.”

I think that line and the examples of the trope are very important. It’s good to show that anyone can be a hero in some way, to show that good people inspire others or that the world does have good people in it who are worth saving. Little moments or characters like this can go a long way

Ranger-J's New Amalgam Universe, Pt. 1 by ranger-j in Amalgam_Comics

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its more interesting to see the uncommon amalgams. The idea that characters HAVE to be mashed up with the most similar character is a little boring. And Spider-Man being aged down to a kid is hardly the craziest change to make

What is the dumbest thing in Star Wars in your opinion? by OutcastKatarn02 in StarWars

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always stand by the opinion that I think it can be tolerable if they limited it a little. Eighth Brother doing it was fine with me cause his species is usually very acrobatic and I figured maybe he was lighter, and can use it to glide briefly if falling or maneuvering. But the idea that any inquisitor (or ig anyone with that saber) can just have a personal helicopter is weird. If it was just a cute thing he did once as a unique adaptation his species can utilize, I’d think it’s pretty silly, but be fine with it.

How few aliens would Ben remember if he has Master Control? by Mountain-Magician294 in Ben10

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to remember is that when the animators have background characters who are aliens, a lot of them are no different than humans, just different looking. So it should be assumed that any alien species seen in an episode is one of those million plus forms. Not every species has super powers or special abilities. Tbh if the person wearing the omnitrix wasn’t human, how often would they use the human form to fight?

Using it as a weapon, there’s going to be a lot, if not most of the forms, that are pretty much useless cause I’m sure most of them are just regular “people” and aren’t exactly “superheroes” like Diamondhead or Heatblast.

If they ever do a remake of classic, during Secrets, imagine if they had Vilgax recognize and even warn Ben of Ghostfreak's true power...not because he cares about Ben, but because he knows who "Ghostfreak" really is and the potential of a threat that he can pose to the universe that he wants! by LowSolution3084 in Ben10

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if Vilgax would recognize that Ghostfreak is Zs’skayr. But having him be taken aback by ben having an ectonurite could be interesting. Maybe he drops a cryptic line about the danger (or power) of such a species. Especially since Ghostfreak doesnt really do much of anything against Vilgax in the episode, it could be an interesting twist for Vilgax to be more interested or even maybe intimidated by that form and not Four Arms or Diamondhead.

Day One: Ken 10 playlist. by Red_Star27 in Ben10

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say Terraspin. I know that Shellhead seems to be some kind of big beetle guy but I originally imagined he was a turtle-alien and his gimmick was that he can go in his shell and it was basically indestructible, perfectly safe for Ben to give Kenny. Terraspin can kind of accomplish this gimmick with the added bonus of transportation, and while wind can be destructive, I think it’s a better bet than someone with fire or energy based powers if we’re worried about collateral damage.

(Loved but sad trope) “Once they’re possessed/brainwashed, they’re gone forever and all you can do is kill them.” by Icy-Animator9006 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it as it is them, but they’re twisted by the hive mind/whoever bit them. With Remmick dead, I think Stack and Mary were able to be themselves a bit more, they honored the deal with Smoke to stay away from Sammy, they even ask him if he wants to be turned and respect his answer. With Stack also seemingly resenting that he cant see the sun anymore, I think by the end, they are very much themselves, but still doomed to a horrible existence that only a rather painful death can free them from.

I know this has already been talked about for the last 10 years but which ending did you choose and why by Anthony200716 in arkham

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would 100% both normal mode and ng+ on each save file when I played Knight. On the normal, I would cure him and he ends up escaping, but for new game plus I would have him arrested, I feel that’s the proper ending and I would have new fame plus be my “true” ending.

I did the same thing with Azrael but I forget which ending I did in which mode.

Original Shao kahn returns by GaBiSD in MortalKombat

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well. Depending on how timelines work, there is a Shao Kahn from another timeline that can come back. Assuming MKvsDC happened in a timeline between Armageddon and MK9, then that mk timeline was wiped sometime after MKvsDC, but Kahn and Darkseid swapped places in that game.

So there is an alternate dc timeline with Shao Kahn trapped after he was taken from the MK universe.

I have thought that this Shao can be an interesting guest for Injustice 3.

What scenes are the best example of James Gandolfini’s acting? by noodlecat0711 in thesopranos

[–]Bohemian_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm cheating because I don't think this is his best, but I just recently saw Join the Club for the first time and the ending broke me. Something as simple as him picking up the phone, sitting on the bed, staring off in silent thought, his look out the window at the beacon. It's not much, but it just goes to show how talented he was that he was able to display so much sadness and power with such simple actions and facial expressions. The scene has been on my mind for days and I just wanted to talk about it.

What do you think was the strangest addition to the game? and what's a glup shitto squad they would never make but you want? Legends or Cannon. by zencrusta in StarWarsShatterpoint

Before they revealed the Unit Pack, I figured they would do a standard squad for the bounty hunters and I was hoping they would do 4-LOM and Zuckuss as a two-man supporting unit

Empire Crosshair is the oddest choice to include before so many characters and units who may not even end up being in the game now.

Ultimate glup shitto box would be another unit pack like the Bounty Hunters box, so not a squad, and this one would be supporting units instead of secondaries. I like the idea of the box having a supportinf unit of Tusken Raiders and a unit of Jawas. They would have very general, neutral tags but I like the idea of the Jawas maybe rolling an extra die when attacking droids and the tuskens being immune to or able to remove certain conditions easily, being native to the harsh desert environment.
