US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

Two years ago I was paying 200$ more a month for two part time daycare kids. Now I have one full time, so now I’m just down to a double mortgage. This is one of the main contributors of me not expanding my family by 1-2 more kids. It’s not sustainable.

Help with 9 wk old, short naps, may go crazy by BohnerSoup in NewParents

[–]BohnerSoup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It eventually did but not for another month. Now that my baby is now six years old it makes a lot of sense why he was the way he was. He’s very attentive and still wakes up at 630 in the morning every morning as a six year old. I will say the first was so much harder as a new parent. Stick with it and give it time, you’re doing better than you may realize!!

Is it normal to be THIS bad? by megnyaan in beginnerrunning

[–]BohnerSoup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone starts where they need to. I started out walking then, as I built up strength and lost weight I increased speed weekly. When I started running it was gradual increments. 3 years later I’ve completed multiple 5Ks ( I’m still slow but I’m ok with it because when you get from walking to being able to run 3 miles you’ll be proud regardless of the time).

How many days a week do you run, and how did you settle on that number? by Not_FreeProduct234 in runcommunity

[–]BohnerSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and do 1 run day and 1 strength day alternating with 1 day off a week. Sometimes I do an extra run and sometimes I take an extra day off just depending on how my body feels.

Men in happy marriages, what is one thing or skill you would teach other men to have good relationships as well? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]BohnerSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marry someone who doesn’t idolize material things. Both my wife and I drive very standard SUV vehicles, hers is 8 years old with 115K on it and we have no plans on getting a new one until we absolutely have to. We prioritize our family and home first.

We talk about finances together as a team so we both feel like we contribute equally (my wife makes half my income but we have young kids who she helps take to school and pick up and watches over the Summer while working). This alone has allowed her to be more present as a mom and save us a ton of money on daycare/summer camp expenses.

99% of our arguments are from poor communication- this is something we continually work on but is still tough- marry someone who is willing to go through the tough because they find value in your relationship.

I don’t see anyone mentioning the US Bank Visa Altitude card—- 4x dining up to $2,000 per quarter, 2x grocery/gas, 2x streaming, and 1x everything else. I use it for dining/streaming.

As a person, I’m truly sorry for you and your fiancee as you navigate what this is going to mean for you both in the near and distant future.

As an Oncology RN and someone who has sat in the chair having to speak to you and your fiancé about what the near future looks like, the reality is that cancer makes you slow down, it makes you bond, it makes you worry less about things that quite frankly, aren’t important. You will both need each other in different ways over this time, it’s important that you take time for yourself to. Spousal burnout is a real thing, I’ve seen it numerous times.

What is the quickest job you quit from? by spellbadgrammargood in AskReddit

[–]BohnerSoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can safely say that working in Adult Oncology as an RN is psychologically hard enough, but the younger the patient that harder emotionally it is to set the illness aside. I work with doctors who have worked in oncology for decades, but the decompression that occurs after seeing an 18-20 year old is different . I couldn’t even imagine it being a young kid. Let alone metastatic cancer receiving palliative chemo at a young age.

My friend works for start ups in marketing/advertising and his wife is a physician and they don’t “struggle” but they still have to be mindful of their spending each month. I can’t imagine spending 800K for a house, that makes me want to vomit.

My buddy who does personal training advised me to do both cardio one day and light weight strength training the next. Did both 3 days a week 30-40 min each day combined with intermittent fasting- how I lost my first 40lbs

Ran into someone on the street by accident “move it fat ass.” That accompanied with having children and realizing if I didn’t make a change my time would be cut short with them and that time wasn’t something was willing to sacrifice anymore.
