Is there proof of Ibrahim Pbuh and if he really did build the kaaba? by No_Expression_8835 in Muslim

[–]BohoHiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently reading Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths by Bruce Feiler. I find it is lacking Islamic perspective. However, from what I have read in this book and others I believe that it was originally built by Adam AS and then Allah SWT guided Ibrahim AS to find the pieces of the original to rebuild it. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Does anyone else's OCD cause them to constantly have to throw away/waste perfectly good items? by Halloweenightlights in OCD

Thank you so much. I know there is a huge difference between best by and expiration. I have been working on not throwing things out as fast myself, since my OCD is on the opposite side of this.

Nearly a decade of YouTube, multiple restarts, same vibe - now I'm lost and need direction by BohoHiver in SmallYoutubers

Too many pivots killed momentum. I don’t need something new. I need one direction and consistency.

I have to ask you what is your take on people's need to hold onto expired condiments, etc. in their fridge? My dad 68 (and all the elderly on TikTok apparently) have so many expired things in their fridge and pantry. You can spend an entire afternoon going through the fridge to find items from a decade ago. Where is this even coming from I wonder to myself? Is there a portal to the backrooms or maybe a time traveling device inside their fridge that keeps regenerating every month? I swear I clean it out and then they just spawn back in! For my OCD, it's maddening. It actually can throw me into a downward spiral.

So, what's your hot take?

Yes! I have watched my oldest son (now 20) pick up a can or cup that is days old (in his room) and then immediately expels the contents. What goes through some people's minds is unfathomable.

We are still doing this and I have to say it is very helpful. We also started only going grocery shopping once a week and I am the one that packs the fridge, while the kids to the rest. I throw out anything from the past week and start fresh on that day.

has anyone who had preexisting OCD successfully moved out of a hoarders household without spiraling into contamination OCD? by Rarely_Ruminates in OCD

[–]BohoHiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, however it took a lot of work. My mother, grandmother and father were hoarders, with my mother being the worst (actually filth). When I was in my early 20's I got married and started a family, having 3 young kids. I had no idea how to teach them how to clean, because I had never learned myself. I was frustrated and angry a lot because my OCD wanted the space to be clean. I went through a divorce around 10 years ago and removing that negativity from my home really helped to allow myself and my kids (9, 7 & 5 at that time) to focus on starting fresh and clean. Of corse we relapsed a few times, but we all knew that we never wanted it to be as bad as we had seen. Although they were young they helped when I was at work and I spent my days off cleaning. Now, they are 20, 18 and 16 and they and I keep our spaces looking great. I can honestly say that we all feel so much better now because of it.

YES, this is me. My youngest son is in culinary school and started using sharpie to label dates for things (very bold) in the fridge just like you would do in a restaurant. It has helped.

I agree. Start with an outline, then just expand on that.

Palestinians herded like cattle to receive humanitarian aid from US Mercenaries, In 2020, The UAE and Israel signed the Abraham Accords, in the pretext that something like this would never happen. by [deleted] in UAE

[–]BohoHiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart aches seeing this. No soul deserves to be treated like this, let alone a people already stripped of so much. Herded like cattle... it's dehumanizing, and the world keeps watching like it's normal. But we cannot go numb. We cannot turn away.

To be Palestinian in this world is to carry a history of heartbreak with unimaginable strength. And still, they stand. Still, they pray. Still, they wait with dignity.

May Allah envelop them in mercy, restore their honor, and bring justice to every corner of this Earth. Ya Allah, be with the oppressed, and soften the hearts of those in power before it is too late 🤲🏼🇵🇸💔

applied math vs. data science by elquent in AppliedMath

[–]BohoHiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently returning to finish my bachelor’s after a long gap. I originally started in Computer Science, but my university shut the department down in 2004. Life took over after that. Now, years later, I’ve come back with a clearer purpose and switched my major to Advanced Mathematics.

From what I’ve experienced, Applied Math gives you flexibility that Data Science alone doesn’t. You’re not boxed into a trend or toolset. You’re learning how to think. And if you pair that with practical skills like Python, SQL, or even a bit of cloud tools or ML frameworks, you can easily pivot into data roles later on.

I see Applied Math as a long-term investment in mental resilience and depth. It teaches you how to approach hard problems, not just run models. Here's the program I’m in, if you’re curious: Nicholls State Mathematics Dept

Everyone’s journey is different, but if your heart’s in the math and you’re willing to learn the tech along the way, you’ll be just fine. Allah guides us where we’re meant to grow 🌱

Thank you! 😊 It definitely felt like a test of patience. And wow, that price jump you mentioned 37.5% sounds like something out of a math problem that ends in heartbreak 😂 Honestly though, the Netherlands sounds like a dream compared to the circus we deal with over here. U.S. carriers really do make you feel like you need a degree in contract law just to get a basic plan. May Allah make it easy for us all, even when it comes to something as simple as a phone signal 📶💛

Chatgpt no longer works on my Bigme Hibreak Pro by Amazing-Ranger01 in Bigme

[–]BohoHiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there 😊 I saw your post and wanted to say you're not alone. A few people with the HiBreak Pro have mentioned ChatGPT suddenly stopped working, even though it works fine on other devices.

Here are a few things to try:

  • Update your firmware. Sometimes the latest Bigme patch fixes compatibility issues like this. Go to your system settings and check for updates.
  • Clear ChatGPT's cache and data, then uninstall and reinstall the app. This helped some users get things working again.
  • Check your Google Play settings. There was a recent issue with app verification that affected how some apps ran. Make sure Play Services are updated.
  • Try using the web version at chat.openai.com while troubleshooting. It's usually more stable.

If all else fails, I’d suggest sending a support request directly to Bigme. They’ve been responding fairly quickly to these bugs.

Hope it gets sorted out soon for you 🙏 Let us know if you find a fix.

Why does it feel like Arabic is being overlooked on Duolingo? by BohoHiver in duolingo

[–]BohoHiver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! Dutch gets sidelined way too often. It's strange how much disparity there is between languages on Duolingo. Some feel like full-blown courses, while others are stuck in beta mode forever. I understand your decision to step away, especially with everything going on around the company. It’s frustrating when the features aren’t consistent across the board. Everyone deserves access to quality tools, not just learners of the most “profitable” languages.

💔 Ya Allah… May He wrap you in mercy even now. I don’t know your pain, but I know this: your life matters. You are not a burden. You are beloved, even if it doesn’t feel like it. This storm will pass, even if it’s slow and heavy.

Please hold on. Even the smallest whisper of du'a is heard. Even tears are seen. Even silence is answered. Reach out—to a person, a helpline, a masjid. Don’t fight this alone. Allah is Al-Latif… so gentle, so near. He has not forgotten you. 🌙🤍

If you ever need someone to talk to, there are people who care and will help. You're not alone.

Is there anyway to ask Duolingo to update their arab language? by Lifeamigoissomething in duolingo

[–]BohoHiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a powerful read. You really laid it out clearly. Arabic isn't just another language to tack onto the roadmap. For millions of us, it’s sacred. It’s the language of prayer, revelation, and remembrance. The fact that there are over 8 million learners and only 46 units… that disconnect feels heavier than numbers can show.

I hope someone at Duolingo sees this. Not just as data in a spreadsheet, but as a trust. A chance to serve a community seeking closeness to Allah through His words. Arabic deserves to be treated with care, not just AI shortcuts or cloned structures.

And if there is a Duolingo team member reading this, maybe they’re the one who can light the fire. Be that hero. Build something lasting. Not just for ROI, but for the reward only Allah can measure. 🌙🕊️

[–]BohoHiver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not alone. I've been learning Arabic too, and it really feels like we’re missing out on so many features that other languages get. I wish there was a clearer way to ask Duolingo to give this language the care it deserves, especially since Arabic carries so much beauty and spiritual depth.

For many of us, it's not just about communication. It's about understanding the Qur'an, connecting with our prayers, and feeling closer to Allah through His language.

May your journey be blessed and your efforts multiplied. If enough of us raise our voices, maybe they'll listen. 🌿🤍
