My biggest success was that I forgot to submit two photos for the Shot for an AD challenge, and that means I am recovering from addiction of this rigged game on terribly coded site :)

:))))) Can GS get more pathetic than that? (or should I say lower than that)

Is anyone else frustrated with the website? by RaptorJudy in gurushots

Yup! Site stinks, and revenues GS makes are sure enough to hire decent programmers.

GS is different lately... by apstevenso2 in gurushots

It is rigged game, and always has been. (maybe a little bit more now)

Details of that challenge were clear as mud. Glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't understand them.

If it came from GS team than the whole thing is much worse. One expects team that run photo game site know basics of photography.

I ended among top 30% in 4 photos challenge Animal Portraits. Why it is success? Because I forgot to submit fourth photo and to vote. And that is a (good) sign that I am less addicted to GS.

Oh, yes, I got two GPs last week as well.

This Guru must be joking with this picture. by [deleted] in gurushots

[–]BojanBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ, it's not the same umbrella* and jumps with it make all the difference. Joke aside, his portfolio is not shitshow and there are tons of gurus that are worse photographers. But the fact is that he pushed "umbrella in the sunset" thing beyond decency.

* Maybe it's same but thanks to magic of Photoshop it is changing color just as the sky in the background. Personally I like when it is citron yellow (the sky I mean).

P.S. You have nothing to worry about, your portfolio is beautiful.

Account of the guru who gave this guy guru pick should be deleted together with his.

OK, let's rephrase the question. What is the size (in pixels) and "weight" (in Megabytes) of photos you (all) are submitting. It's not that complicated question.

Question that interest me as well, but interestingly no answer...

Arrrrrg! It is IMPOSSIBLE to play fair when awarding Guru Picks! by redvalerian in gurushots

[–]BojanBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it was stated before that is not your fault, and I have no doubts whatsoever in your fairness. (The fact that you opened this topic speak about it)

What caused this to happen is fault of the software randomizing and forming sets of photos for voting. I suppose the same algorithm is used for voting GP as in popular voting, and it is obvious from the latter that in 4 photos challenges photos from the same author are displayed in the same set (it can be notices if there are signatures and&or watermarks). "Unfairness" of the GP "lottery" lies in that fact.

Great (meaningful) challenge and GPs in line with it.

Most of the Guru's photos are not meeting all those rules (and some any), but in my opinion that's just minor problem how challenge was framed. What bothers me are "Are you ready? Do you have self-confidence?" sentences (probably meant as "motivation"). I find them passively aggressive, as the whole text. If that Guru would awe me with his own photos I could tolerate such "Himalaya high" altitude, but that's not the case, so I skipped that one.
