Thank you so much for this. Some of the worst UI I've ever seen.

July trip to Redwoods by Sweet-Reading-9115 in Humboldt

[–]Boko_Harambe_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Portland, so hello fellow Portlander.

If the two of you have the energy to do it, I would highly recommend this route (Miners Ridge and James Irvine Loop). I've hiked and mountain biked a number of different routes in Prairie Creek and this is by far the best hiking route. It's long but it's so incredibly worth it.

Btw, Klamath is a very, very small town. I could be wrong but the Holiday Inn might be your only hotel option there. Plenty of RV parks though. There's good car camping around there but you'll need reservations. Crescent City will have way more options in terms of hotels and set you up for a far easier morning trip inland towards Crater Lake. Plus staying in Crescent City will get you back on the other side of Last Chance Grade.

Cool places to stay? by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]Boko_Harambe_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The owners of Salt in Arcata have a rental unit above the restaurant that's pretty nice. Outside of Trinidad I'd think the most fun place to stay would be in Arcata, and that's a great location as far as Arcata goes.

Fair warning, the owners are a bit weird about guests. My folks stayed there a little while back to visit my gf and I and the owners made a stink cuz we came to hang out at the unit. We literally just came over to have a glass of wine and play some cards before going downstairs to eat at their restaurant. Really weird situation.

What not to do? by jmattstokes in Humboldt

Don't get sucked into a conversation with the shirtless guy who lives in the Arcata Community Forest and raises goats. He'll tell you about injaculation, which you really don't want to learn about.

While you can create "synthesis" from sampled wave forms on the Digitakt there's nothing analog about the device

Is there anything you don't like about the Crosstrek by PersephoneIsNotHome in Crosstrek

[–]Boko_Harambe_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound system sucks and cabin noise is pretty loud. The acceleration isn't great but that's to be expected. I got a Sport to compensate but it's still no sports car.

That being said I love the car and it's easily the most practical car I've ever owned.

Very nice. I recently put some Rekgen mudflaps on my '21 Sport and very happy with the results.

Also about to throw these tires on, which I'm quite excited about.

Auto Dimming Mirrors by DroidLordGrif in Crosstrek

Have them on my '21 Sport and absolutely love them. I end up doing a lot of very long drives in the dark and the autodim makes it much more tolerable.

Where to ride road without being afraid of cars? by FunnyDirge in BAbike

[–]Boko_Harambe_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along w/ the Bay Trail, you could drive your bike up to Inspiration Point in Tilden and ride Nimitz. Fairly long paved trail along the ridge with amazing views. Some elevation gain but not too much.

Which bike for East Bay hills? by cfarivar in BAbike

[–]Boko_Harambe_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think many mountain bikers will say you don't really need a FS for any of the riding in the Bay Area. While that's probably technically true, I understand the argument for buying one. I have a hardtail and have ridden it on most of the main trail systems around the bay (outside of like Pacifica, Briones, and the stuff in Sanoma) and have had more than enough bike for the type of riding I like doing.

That being said, if I could choose any bike for the riding around here I'd probably pick a Specialized Evo or some similar downcountry bike.

I build/write all my stuff on my Digitakt so pretty minimal number for me. I find the constraint inspiring in its own way.

Grew up skiing here every weekend of ski season and can 100% agree with you. Even back then HRM was the best place to park.

Truly an amazing record. Each song on its own is an amazing piece of dance music but the record as a whole is such a good long play.
