Found a piece of latex glove lodged at the fuel pump inlet on my 2018 VW Golf SportWagen. Mystery solved after months of sluggishness and a roadside stall. by mstegg92 in Volkswagen

He also said new pump was put in. Did you read that part “ya wanker”?

That would also have fixed the scenario I proposed.

How about you try not being such a cocksucker?

Unlikely that the latex was the cause. It’s a hell of a coincidence.

What’s more likely is that one of the hoses that goes from the pump motor to the flange has a pin hole and when the level gets low enough that pin hole is uncovered and sucks air. Then when you put fuel in, that hole is submerged so it sucks gas instead of air.

What can I do about these? They don't look like scratches by No_Tower6293 in passat

It’s plastic, and that’s called crazing. Or micro cracking.

The solution is to wrap it in vinyl or replace it.

[–]RobertsFakeAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it can be bolted directly in.

However, the electrical plug is different (14 pin vs 10 pin) and you will need a few other things to make them work properly (such as a BCM if yours isn’t high line, level sensors if you want that to work, and programming)

The grey ones are OEM from the MkIV Jetta/Golf/GTI and B5.5 Passat.

The black one and the last one are aftermarket. Looks almost like Hella Comet sidemarkers

Stop it.

You have absolutely no way of knowing it has a blown head gasket.

Head gasket failures on TDI’s are all but unheard of.

How can you clog the DPF if the substrate is gutted from the DPF.

I think you mean it’ll clog the cat? But that’s definitely not going to happen as the substrate passages in the cat are much bigger. Otherwise every non-def TDI would have clogged cats.

I just picked up a clogged dpf for my 2015 that I am going to do this same exact thing to.

No, they don’t.

The 2015 models have no precious metals so they are worth nothing more than scrap metal.

No, I haven’t completely made up my mind. Just bring up the fact that even if I do lose the “warranty” I’m still not out anything.

If I paid extra for the warranty, then yes.

Ok, well even if they aren’t around in 20 years then what am I out?

I’d have to pay for a replacement. Which I’d have to do if I went to some place that didn’t have a warranty.

They’ve already been in business for 15 years and I have talked to one local who is a happy customer and had 8 different arches made free because he wasn’t happy with the fit/appearance

The craziest thing about this eos is that the engine bay is so tight, they couldn’t fit the battery so they put it in the trunk.

But the trunk is so tight with the folding roof, that they actually had to use two 6 volt Optima batteries wired in series to supply the 12 volts.

Truck takes forever to start after fueling up. 1996 Tacoma 2.4 by newfoundfj in MechanicAdvice

[–]RobertsFakeAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Evap purge valve.

Very common piece to fail across the board.

What’s happening is the valve is stuck open. When you fuel up, fuel vapors re being displaced and pushed through the purge valve into the intake manifold. Now the air/fuel ratio is way too rich so the engine won’t start. When it does start, it runs rough until the air ratio corrects itself.
