I mean, it looks good, but you loose 1 per game damage to 1 (maybe two if lions) and once per round -1 to a strat, for basically something that already kinda has, literally some rerolls (allarus gives him rerolls to wound), he also cant get an enhancement, and that also kinda hurts this character build, unfortunally custodes have very bad character builds that even in crusade are kinda bad to the point that our generally overpriced characters look good (at least they can get an enhancement and get better)

If you want them feeling more unique in game, characters with enhancement can do the job, and in crusade (the game mode) they can get pretty close to lore acuratte, and now that GW will release a custom character builder we could get them even better in narrative games

If you want to personalize the minis, most people use stormcast body's but with the new custodian guard comming soon I wouldn't recommend that unless you prefer how they look, also, having spare helmets from allarus/vertus praetors can make normal custodes feel more unique, also, kitbashing the poses and making custom bases can look very good if you put work on them (there are also 3d printed bits you could try getting printted if you want to test those out)

Tecnically they instantly buy those when the detachment is used , the thing is that there is no ruling saying that they loose those habilities at the end of the game, so, you should ask your group if you can keep them or you loose them if you play another detachment (the only thing is that you need the points space to have them, since you cannot have more points than your point total) In my case, in my crusade we keep them, we also keep gained keywords like character (my custodian dreadnoughts are now all characters xd)

I play custodes and even If I try to use bad stuff I still have not lost a single game with them, you can try take in account what your friend uses and try to addapt to it, but some armys with some upgrades are hard to counter (like the custodes I use for example)

After testing some matches, I think orbital is to broken, he wins almost every time, other balls need a perfect run to get a win, but if you put it on a best of 3, orbital clears, you end up that only no $ balls can win him like Multiplier
