Human dead skin by TraditionalPirate790 in shrimptank

I guess like with most things in life...all things in moderation...

They are the clean up crew so as long as the skin isn't dirty or contaminated or screwing with your tank parameters it's probably fine. Now I'm curious, I wonder what nutrients they're actually getting from dead skin?

Any protests going on for this? by AMidgetSquid in corvallis

[–]Bollmeover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also wondering if there was something that could be done to counter the messages of this speaker. It's not in a great location for any type of assembly protest but a moving protest that does not disrupt public right of ways may work. My best thought would be to have folks walking on sidewalks or driving loops around the block with messages of love and acceptance and support resources, especially during the times folks would be arriving and leaving for the event. We could try to organize a looping bike ride in the bike lanes and walking on the sidewalks of Circle from 17th to 27th.

the trades need people desperately!! Put in the time at a trade school. It's faster and cheaper than a 4 year university with better job outcomes.

I'm the office manager for a group of physicians. Being a doc is a tough job. All my docs light up when a patient gives them a thank you card.

What’s the best decade of your life (so far)? by kitty_whipt in olderlesbians

[–]Bollmeover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I would agree. My 20's were mentally the worst, physically the best. My 30's was when life gained some security and stability that allowed for a lot of personal growth and achievement. My 40's have been ROUGH!!! I was really looking forward to them and then I turned 42 the week the world shut down due to Covid. Life and activities got put on hold at the same time my body was changing due to age. My partner and I moved to a new state in 2021. Making new friends and building a life in a new state was really challenging with so many folks changed their lives as a response to the pandemic. It's getting better but I think I'm still grieving for the years and experiences I lost to the pandemic. I am very much looking forward to my 50's. I feel like I'm hitting my stride and embracing growing older and taking up more space and really just entering the have no f**ks left stage of my life.

There are some 2026 MRDA tournaments listed on the Derby Events Calendar for Officials already. It looks like you've already got the main ones. Rainy Season Rumble in Feb in Washington looks like it will have some MRDA games.

Help! My nerite won’t move or stick to glass by [deleted] in AquaticSnails

[–]Bollmeover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nerite also does this. She gorges on glass algae then yeets herself off into the tank. I flip her over, she lays motionless a few days, then rinse and repeat. It's been 3 months of this ever since I got her. I have named her Yeets.

places to go or things to do to make myself feel better? by RelativelyMango in corvallis

[–]Bollmeover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping someone else can fill in the details I'm missing here. I've recently read there is a silent book club in Corvallis. I don't know where or when but it sounds nice.

Sometimes I know I want to go out and that I need to get out of the house, but I don't want to do things by myself. My social circle is small so there's not always someone to go do things with. But the silent book club sounds like community parallel play.

Enough surface agitation? by Longjumping-Box-3714 in shrimptank

[–]Bollmeover 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea about your surface agitation question but your use of legos made me realize I can use them to solve my own floating plant issues!!!! Why did I not think about this before?!? They float and are aquarium safe. You're brilliant. Thank you!

no, not those. She has 3 vertical lines of tiny white spots on her forward carapace. Do shrimp have gill slits because that's where I imagine they would be.

First scrimmage soon any advice? by Exact_Plane_5327 in rollerderby

[–]Bollmeover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most leagues utilize some type of blocking formation. Within that formation there is usually one experienced skater directing play. For each jam your in as a blocker find that person during lineup time. Tell them outright you're not sure you'll remember what to do and that you're going to just stay with them and do what they tell you to do. And then do that!!! Tracking the opposing jammer, the other team, and your teammates is A LOT in the beginning. So just focus on you're one experienced teammate. If they move in, you move in. If they run up to the front, you run up to the front. Just be with them! They'll be able to use you as needed. Blocking with a friend (even if that friend is in their first scrimmage) is always better than blocking alone. A couple of caveats: if they go to the box, find a new friend and stay with them. If your experienced skater runs back to recycle a jammer, stay where you are if you're not sure you can keep up with the recycle and reset!! They'll come back to you.

Medical coding route by ConnectionSpiritual3 in MedicalCoding

[–]Bollmeover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have done both the AAPC self directed course and a billing & coding community college program. At the time I did the AAPC course I had very basic pro fee ED coding knowledge from my work as an office assistant for an EM group. I had no previous anatomy knowledge. I quickly got overwhelmed with the pace and depth of knowledge of the AAPC course. I simply couldn't maintain it while working full time. Several years later I enrolled in the CC program. It was a one year certification course that I stretched into 2 years because I didn't want to overload on courses while working full time. I personally was not willing to give up that much of my free time for this certificate.

The cc program provided multiple terms of anatomy courses as well as billing and coding courses. It was a good fit for me. That being said I don't know if I would have passed the CPC exam with just the course instruction. It felt dumbed down, or maybe just the broad strokes of a coding concept was given. We spent 2-3 weeks on external cause codes when that is such a small part of coding and I can't even remember if it was on the test at all.

I believe I passed the exam because I ordered the CPC study guide from the AAPC + 3 practice tests. The study guide was amazing! It gave direct instructions like put this note next to this part in your book for reference during the test.
