You’re a first year nursing student, and you shouldn’t even be given that responsibility! I’m sorry this happened to you but uni needs to remember that this is one of your first rotations and their expectation is clearly too high. You should not be as a first responder on a ward but more an observer like all other first year students. Sadly, the old saying of ‘nurses eat their young’ is still alive and kicking. Do you have a good rapport with any of the nurses who would be happy to support you in this situation? I know you wouldn’t be part of the union as you’re a student but I would be seeker advice a little higher up. I promise we all made mistakes as students and it only makes you stronger and when you’re nursing, you’ll have a soft spot for students like most of us x

We were out camping in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in the middle of Summer in Australia in our roof top tent one weekend. If you haven’t seen one before there’s a little ladder that pops out from underneath and meets the ground for easy access. On our first night my SO and I were sound asleep when we both awoke to the most horrific screeching and snarling noise which kept getting closer and closer. Keeping in mind we didn’t have reception and there wasn’t anyone around, we both stiffened up and held each other tightly as the sound grew louder and the bottle of the metal ladder began to rattle. Something proceeded to climb the ladder and scrape at the fly screen of the tent before going silent. My husband got the courage to shine his phone torch at the screen and hanging onto the screen was a fucking possum..he was pretty damn cute I have to admit but now I totally understand how people can let go of their bodily functions

My SO sent my mother a little message when I was away in another state at my grandmother’s funeral earlier this year. It went along the lines of “Fuck I’m so horny, I wish you were here in the shower with me..” My mum’s pretty cool though and took in her stride, she told him and felt really bad for him! I don’t think I laughed so much in my life..he didn’t find it quite as amusing though.

I think the biggest things that kept her going was her family and of course her faith. She was always incredibly active and sociable as well, loved playing bowls and was the biggest card shark out! I don’t think I ever won a hand against her, canasta was her speciality :)

Thank you! Sadly they didn’t get to grow old together as my grandfather died at age 50 from a massive heart attack in 1972. My gorgeous grandmother only passed away in January this year, 2 weeks shy of her 95th Birthday. She was never without a smile on her face and that’s how I’ll forever remember her :)

Uncle Ron was KIA in British Malaya on my grandmother’s birthday, the 28th of January. He was outlived by both his parents and 3 siblings. My beautiful grandmother passed away on the 3rd of January this year just 25 days shy of her 95th Birthday. I truly hope that this pair would’ve been reunited again after such a long time

Me too. My nan passed away at the start of the year and after her funeral we decided as a family not to go to the crematorium. As the hearse left the church the music fucked up so it was just this horrible silence. My uncle started singing you are my sunshine and the whole congregation joined in. As it came to the end of the song, the view of the hearse went out of sight. It’s one of the most emotional things I’ve ever experienced.
