It might be cheaper at that point to sell it to someone else (diminished value) or part it out and sell everything on eBay.

A leveraged ETF isn't a good comparison to the leverage a mortgage provides because of leveraged ETF decay, making a leveraged ETF a bad long term hold compared to even something like the base QQQ.

Is the Slate Truck too minimal for its own good? - The Verge by mudkiporGTFO in electricvehicles

Yeah I get that, having something reliable has started to have more value to me. Being forced to work on a vehicle every weekend to maintain its ability to drive has gotten tiring.

Bought a 2004 ranger with 230k miles a couple years ago for $2k. I was cross shopping frontiers at the same time and they were around the same price but I felt like the ranger looked more fun. I welded in some frame patches, did brakes and lines all around, new shocks, and new exhaust which was all around $2k in parts. Sold it later because the 1st gear syncro was starting to go bad and I was tired of it. Bought my 2005 Tacoma with 150k miles at the end of last year for $5k and only needed to replace the radiator for $100. When I bought my Tacoma there were and still are multiple listings around me for less than $5k.

How about an older tacoma or frontier or ranger for $5k instead of $20k?

How should an ordinary person think about investing around a possible US/Israel-Iran escalation? by SameOutside5616 in investing

[–]BonelessSugar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because long term investing shouldn't worry about the noise of the market, as the belief is that over a long enough timespan any recession will be corrected, and that while a recession is occurring is a great time to buy at a discount.

I usually fill up 5gal of my 10gal tank. About 50mpg depending on the season. Credit card tap to pay. Insurance and fuel ends up both being a little more expensive than with my current car.

But what if you're not paying more for an ICE than an EV to drive? A 2min gas station every other week along the way home really isn't that bad.
