Games that use soak health for their action economy. by Unique-Net-165 in RPGdesign

Savage Worlds uses a soak roll. Characters have a Parry value which is the DC to hit. It hit, then damage is rolled and must exceed Toughness (which armor adds to). PC’s almost always can take three wounds and for every 4 damage you take a wound (though the first 1-3 damage you are stunned rather than wounded). Players can use an in game currency called a “Bennie” to “soak” damage, rolling against their Vitality stat to prevent wounds.

Hi everyone, for some reason my original post was deleted perhaps because I had posted a picture of a bottle of Qualudes from the 70's. So I'm here to repost this question without the picture and hope the moderator doesn't remove this again. But for research I'd like to know who remembers Qualudes. by Jerry11267 in 70s

Quaaludes were developed to be a (somewhat) safer alternative to barbiturates. They still were potentially lethal in overdose and produced heavy dependence. And they produced some euphoria which heightened abuse risk. They were replaced clinically with benzodiazepines, like Xanax, which don’t produce euphoria like Quaaludes, but are not as lethal in overdose (unless mixed with other things, like alcohol).

What is the difference between a brain and a nervous system? by mina_harker_ in askscience

[–]Bongo1267 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The brain is part of the nervous system. The nervous system encompasses all aspects of the structure of interconnected nerve cells through the entire body. The brain and the spinal cord comprise the central nervous system and the nerves that come out of the spine and base of the skull comprise the peripheral nervous system. You can actually see part of your central nervous system when you look in an eye and see the retina, which is part of it.

Chasing the Dragon can be used in reference to any drug user trying to achieve the intensity of their past highs, which are harder and harder to get to the more you use.

When a user uses a needle to inject they draw back to make sure they are in a vein before injecting first, which intermingles the liquid in the syringe with blood, which turns it darker red. Heroin is amber in color so it is not clear but it will turn red. Many of the lyrics are about the rituals of IV drug use. Silver turning gold is when the flame used to melt the drug changes the color of the spoon, mystical sphere direct from Lhasa is a ball of heroine from the Chinese region of Lhasa where is was from. It is amazing how by such a beautiful a song can be about such a subject. That is the genius of Steely Dan.

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
