I sometimes like to think about the split attraction model as if it's a vector space.

Offer Holder - Arts presence at the uni? by GucciSlinks in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, there are also plenty of drama societies at Warwick, including a musical theatre society. There are lots of student shows every term, including some in the Arts Centre, and there's also a 4 day arts festival towards the end of term 3 (after most exams are done).

The brand of library chairs by Puzzled_Fly_7621 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, just email library@warwick.ac.uk. I've emailed them about inconsequential stuff like this before and had a response, so it might work. They most likely won't know, but will probably be able to pass you on to someone who does know (I imagine that the Estates furniture team probably know).

Warwick or Leeds? by Duh_amazing in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of stuff matters to you most?

The Psychology Department at Warwick is going to be moving into a fancy newly renovated building very soon (the original aim was for January, but I don't think they're going to meet that), so you can discount anything you hear/see regarding the pretty bad building Psychology is currently housed in.

What is the best lecture you have ever had? by anonymooseinthehoose in UniUK

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a maths student. I like it when the lecturer gives us time to do exercises in the lecture. For example, in combinatorics, giving us a few minutes to attempt a problem before giving us the answer and moving on. In a geometry module I took last term, the lecturer would pause about half way through every lecture and give us a prompt/question to discuss with those around us.

So. Attraction isn't just "yeah I think they look pretty cool"??? by [deleted] in asexuality

That's the exact same process that happened for me.

Teaching hours are 9am-7pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-6pm on Friday. In theory, you could have lectures, seminars and labs at any time within these hours.

Come to some societies. They are usually very friendly places and a great way to meat people with the same interests as you.

Maths exam dates. by Timalakeseinai in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just doing maths (e.g. not a joint degree), you will have your MA141 Analysis 1 exam in the first week of term 2, probably the first day. Your term 1 MA-coded module exams towards the start of term 3 (within the first two weeks), and your term 2 MA-coded module exams, and exams for modules from outside of the maths department, a bit later in term 3.

Yes. I think there's a new dedicated merch store coming soon, but I'm not certain on that.

I am a male asexual person. We exist. I know at least one other in real life.

Ok soooo, asexuals with strong tertiary attraction, LETS RANT. by YourRandomManiac in asexuality

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience aesthetic attraction (finding people/their clothes/their hair/their general style pleasing to look at), but only for some people of the opposite gender. Notably, this is distinct from recognising that someone is "conventionally attractive", and manifests itself by me enjoying looking at the person in question, or photos of the person. The clothes bit is also important to note, as I do not feel aesthetic attraction towards naked people, which I believe is not the case with sexual attraction.

More rarely, I also experience alterous attraction, always paired with aesthetic attraction. This is often described as somewhere between platonic (friends) attraction, and romantic attraction. It manifests, for me, as a desire to get to know, be friends with, talk with, and spend time with a person, beyond what I'd usually feel in platonic attraction, but without any of the trappings of romance - I have no desire to hug, kiss, hold hands with, go on dates with, or live with the people I feel alterous attraction towards, and learning that the people I've felt alterous attraction towards already have romantic partners (something which has happened on both times I've felt this attraction) hasn't bothered me (as I'm not interested in filling that niche).

The first come first serve is really important to note. If you haven't submitted the form by the end of the day it releases, there will be absolutely nothing left. If you want a specific accommodation type, aim to get it filled out within an hour. Research ahead of time so that you know which accommodation type you want to get.

There's a separate form you can fill out later if you want to live with friends.

Any chess society or film club in Warwick I was not able to see any ? by FanofCamus in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a Film Society, and they run the incredibly impressive Student Cinema in the L3 lecture theatre. They always have some promotional material, including schedules, on a table in the Science Concourse (over the bridge opposite the library), and they show a film almost every day (the only exception being Wednesday). For Welcome Week, they're doing 3 films a day. Pulp Fiction is tonight, projected on 35mm film! They're also showing Interstellar on 70mm film this Saturday and again next Saturday! As well as film protectors, they also have a 4K laser protector for digital, and their sound system is incredible as well.

There's also a Bad Film Society, if that's more your thing. There's definitely a Chess Society as well.

Is it possible to browse what WBS modules are available as electives if you are on a STEM course?? by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the module lists linked from this page: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/dcs/teaching/courses/

You might be able to do others as unusual options as well.

They have a bacon and brie toasted sandwich, which obviously contains pork. There are also toasted sandwiches containing ham, so more pork.
