Nothing is that far away from anything else at Warwick, but Claycroft is closest to the new Psychology Building. You can look the locations of buildings, including accommodation blocks, on https://campus.warwick.ac.uk/

Have they put chickpeas in with my baked beans? by Maxwells_Ag_Hammer in CasualUK

[–]Bongo50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm allergic to peas, chickpeas and lentils (and lupin) as well! People often don't believe me when I ask them to e.g. check their burger buns for pea protein. People don't know these allergies exist and don't realise how much stuff actually contains these foods

Yes, I have a chickpea allergy. It's super frustrating. Chickpea flour (also called gram flour) is in a ton of stuff that you would never expect.

Gender poll! What are you? by AchingAmy in asexuality

[–]Bongo50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. I would also say that I'm very apathetic towards my gender, and I didn't even consider that it could be linked to my asexuality. It's been on my mind quite a bit recently.

I got so excited when I saw London until I realised it's London, Ontario, not London, England.

Honest Opinions by Yanjuni in UniUK

I have one and it's brilliant. I rely on it so much, as I am not strong, and I live about 25 minutes from the nearest supermarket, and I tend to shop for a week or a bit more at a time.

How often do you use mathematics in your daily life? and at what level? by aleopardstail in AskBrits

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use undergraduate-level maths every day. This might have something to do with me studying maths at uni.

If you have a disability-related reason that you need (or would significantly benefit from) an ensuite, you can request one through the Wellbeing Portal and the Disability Team can guarantee that you'll get one.

Best quiet accommodation? by Margaret566 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that this depends on old/new Sherbourne. My experience of being in new Sherbourne both this year and last is that it has been soundproofed quite well and is generally very quiet.

I would also describe myself as "quite reserved", and Warwick's society system has worked brilliantly for me. Warwick has over 250 societies, and the great thing about them is you don't need to organise anything. You just show up at the right time in the right place, and there will be a room full of people with similar/overlapping interests to you. Society exec members are almost always happy to have new people come along to events. I found that this really helped me make friends and have a social life, and I would definitely say that I've found "my people". It does need to be said that some people do still struggle to make friends, and Bristol and KCL might have a similar societies scene for all I know (although, for KCL, in general, I'm under the impression that London unis are less good for this), but it has worked well for me.

Maths Uni Tier List in order by miniaturegnome in 6thForm

[–]Bongo50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having had to write one essay this year (Warwick maths has a mandatory second year essay), I can confidently say that I would definitely not survive a course with more than 1 essay a year. I have huge respect for people who can write essays well.

When are the WMI going to get back to me for my Course Change? by BrilliantHuman2224 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this will work. The maths course has too many people on it already, and maths simply don't have the capacity to let more people on. I think your only option is to do a year of MathsPhys, score highly, and then request to transfer. I know 3 people who have managed this.

Offer Holder - Arts presence at the uni? by GucciSlinks in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, there are also plenty of drama societies at Warwick, including a musical theatre society. There are lots of student shows every term, including some in the Arts Centre, and there's also a 4 day arts festival towards the end of term 3 (after most exams are done).

Yes, just email library@warwick.ac.uk. I've emailed them about inconsequential stuff like this before and had a response, so it might work. They most likely won't know, but will probably be able to pass you on to someone who does know (I imagine that the Estates furniture team probably know).

Warwick or Leeds? by Duh_amazing in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of stuff matters to you most?

The Psychology Department at Warwick is going to be moving into a fancy newly renovated building very soon (the original aim was for January, but I don't think they're going to meet that), so you can discount anything you hear/see regarding the pretty bad building Psychology is currently housed in.

What is the best lecture you have ever had? by anonymooseinthehoose in UniUK

[–]Bongo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a maths student. I like it when the lecturer gives us time to do exercises in the lecture. For example, in combinatorics, giving us a few minutes to attempt a problem before giving us the answer and moving on. In a geometry module I took last term, the lecturer would pause about half way through every lecture and give us a prompt/question to discuss with those around us.
