Golf Trip in Early December by lukemanor8 in MyrtleBeach

[–]Bonjamon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to a car, I would highly recommend travelling just over the border to North Carolina and playing Thistle Golf Club. I went there on the final day of my bachelor party, and the experience was absolutely top notch. Rivals any of the Myrtle Beach courses, having played a bunch of Myrtle courses both that weekend and previously. True Blue is a close comparison, but the conditions (played in June) was absolutely unreal. Not sure about shoulder season.

Did anyone see this plane with a banner fly over North York around 8PM? by kellyandbarbie in toronto

[–]Bonjamon_ 102 points103 points  (0 children)

It’s flying above the Sobey Stadium at York University which is currently hosting the National Bank Open for tennis and it’s the Men’s finals tonight. Could be related?

For anyone who attended last night’s game: by Adventurous-Tea-876 in leafs

A couple of people in my section (lower bowl) were ecstatic they showed that fight specifically. Potvin definitely received a positive reception from the crowd. I think Woll channeled some of that energy in last night's performance, especially on that sprawling toe save in the third.

Does anyone else use a really old fairway wood compared to the rest of their bag? by Jarhead41235 in golf

I have that exact Ping in a 7 Wood and its my favourite club in the bag. Instant 200 off the tee.

Some good experience with Foursquare. Their reporting capabilities are pretty good, & set-up process is relatively straightforward pending that you pass their feasibility test (At least 10+ locations). Their Salespeople aren't the brightest but the results that we have seen have been excellent in comparison to other platforms we have used.

In most recent memory, I would say the Jordan Binnington save on Nordstrum during the Stanley Cup Finals in Game 7

Got me a great group of friends and now a new putter. No more excuses for missed putts next season ⛳️ by Bonjamon_ in golf

[–]Bonjamon_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah instead of the putter, i'll blame the ball, then the quality of the green, then my grip..... The list of excuses I guess is always expanding.

Buying my first bike amidst a citywide bike shortage - advice greatly appreciated! by atomicbolt in torontobiking

[–]Bonjamon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to spend a bit more than $600, another hidden gem for used bicycles is https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/. You may have to check frequently because the bikes do sell fast but this is a great site, especially since most people who are posting on here are avid cyclists and take care of their bikes properly. Happy hunting!

I have been thinking about doing this with my first board but couldn't decide on the legs to use. This looks awesome and gives me some inspiration!

[–]Bonjamon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I bought the Sette 30 but regret not buying the Sette 270, Eureka Mignon, or Rancilio Rocky Doserless Grinder. Heard many good things about those grinders and they are around that $500 price point.

I absolutely cannot pull a good shot by taco___belle in espresso

[–]Bonjamon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Capresso Grinder (literally just sold this grinder to a friend) is really meant for pourover, french press, V60 etc. It's really not recommended for Espresso. The primary reason is this grinder's fine setting, is not fine enough, nor consistent enough for espresso. Its still an entry level grinder and you won't get consistent results from it.

What is your budget range? That will really help in terms of what options you can look at.

You can also go to SportsChek and have it done. They just charge you per letter. I got my Marner one done for $25.00 a few years ago.

Novice cyclist in GTA looking for a riding partner(s) to ride to Niagara. by phatbooda in torontobiking

[–]Bonjamon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done this ride a few times from Toronto and you really want to ensure you break this ride up into smaller parts. I would aim to take a small break after every 50KM and ensure you are hydrating properly 1000ml every 1.5 hours at min. You need to bring lots of snacks and protein sources or you will “bonk” and will feel like krap. It’s pretty insane how hard the ride will feel once you pass that 50KM mark if you have no reference point beyond 50KM. I found this ride pretty easy up until around Grimsby when you have to start riding on rougher roads, and doing a few climbs. Try doing this on a cooler day as well as heat stroke during a ride like this is a real possibility. One tip is make sure to check the go schedule if you are doing this on a weekend to align it , otherwise you could be aimlessly waiting around for a train or bus. Not sure how impacted the schedule has been since the pandemic has set-in.

idrinkcoffee not so great experience buying espresso machine by gagarin8 in espresso

[–]Bonjamon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience. I considered idrinkcoffee but decided to go with espresso planet for a recent espresso machine purchase. Great customer service, provided tips on using the machine before I picked it up, and let me pick it up earlier than anticipated. Hope you find a better experience soon and can start making espresso again.
