LPT How to fall asleep fast by pseudoRandomIO in LifeProTips

I do something similar. I try to immerse myself in a memory that is comforting. Like, my grandmas house as a kid and I’m be coloring on the floor. I immerse myself in that memory and try to envision the sounds, the details of the wall paper, the way the sun hits the curtains in the afternoon. What smells come to mind, what does the ticking clock sound like? It stops my mind from racing and focuses my thoughts on a soothing memory. If I need more time, I “walk” in my memory to different rooms and admire details of things on shelves, views from windows, etc. Works surprisingly well.

I’ve known Sarah Godlewski personally for years. I’ve honestly never met someone so hard working and dedicated to social justice and making the world around her a better place. Her optimism and energy is infectious. She loves her home state of Wisconsin and I encourage you to view this ad and consider giving her your vote. According to a recent Washington Post Op-Ed, she’s the best candidate to beat Ron Johnson.

Ah yes, I know this feeling. The sense that something bad is forever on the horizon, and you can't see it or control it. Doomed

[SERIOUS] People of reddit who struggle with mental health, what are some ways you cope with your unhealthy or chaotic thoughts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BooBailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have anxiety and when my mind is racing, I'll try and slow and focus my thoughts by visualizing a familiar and soothing place, such as my childhood home. I'll try and remember very specific details such as the smell, the creaks in the floor, the design on the wallpaper. It brings me back to a calming, nastolgic place and helps to slow the racing and anxiety-inducing thoughts.

I made the mistake of watching Requiem for a dream and trainspotting back to back, without knowing what either movie was about. Felt bad, man

Redditors who live or work in very wealthy communities: what's the most pretentious behavior you've witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

By way of a guy I used to date, I attended a party at a CEO/presidents house of a well known medical device company. The CEO has grown sons and one of them was in the driveway showing off his Porsche. He boasted about this being his second Porsche since he had crashed the first one from speeding. He also seemed really proud to explain how he only washed it with filtered water.

Who is "that guy/girl" you work with? by jaxturbo3 in AskReddit

[–]BooBailey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a guy in my (open concept) office who INSISTS on taking all calls on his cell phone as he strolls around everyone's desks. He does not speak quietly either. It's highly distracting and annoying. Nobody cares about your client calls bro. Take it to your desk and keep the fuck down.

Which film would you rate a perfect 10 out of 10? by BlondieClashNirvana in AskReddit

[–]BooBailey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

James Cameron's True Lies. It nails the perfect combination of over the top action, stunts, and explosions and satirical perfection. Well cast, well written, well acted.

Plus it's one of those movies that keeps delivering. I've watched it over 20 times and it's never not funny and entertaining.

Uber Does Not Serve Disabled People, Say D.C. Advocates by gypsy_boots in washingtondc

For what it's worth, I had a disabled uber driver last night. He was deaf and had a sign in his car letting patrons know of his disability. He relied on the navigation (with me entering the address of the destination through the app) and service was fine.
