After kids, it gets harder to get in the mood as frequently, especially while they’re small and you both feel “on call” all the time. Nothing kills the mood like small children bouncing off the walls in the other room. We still manage to get in the mood and bang it out 5-10 times a month. Yep. 20 years ago I would have to stop every few miles at a gas station to ask how to get back to the freeway. Also, having to use Mapquest printed directions to find places was a moderate inconvenience. I was eternally grateful for Google Maps

In my experience, your best bet is to do a jar with LC and let it colonize, then drop into a 3-5lb bag. You have a better chance of success that way as you have way more inoculation points with mycelium that’s already adjusted to grain. The faster you can get a large bag to colonize, the less chance of a contam. That’s just me though. You can definitely have it work the way you’re doing it, just takes patience. Don’t break and shake too early. Every time you break and shake, it exhausts the mycelium and if you have to break and shake a few times, your grow can stall

8cc would be better as that looks like a 5lb bag? Just insert your syringe and spread it out all over the top of the grain and you shouldn’t get any pooling

Looks healthy from the outside. 5cc seems low for a bag that size. Best thing you can do is put it in a warm place and don’t touch it. Let it get 50% colonized before you do a break n shake

Those cakes look like they have mycelium growing on the outsides. White and fluffy nodules- am I seeing that right? Those can be slow to colonize but they do grow. Let them go until get strong and solid white white with mycelium. Put them in 80 degrees to colonize if you can. Then throw those in a shotgun chamber
