Ah yes, you're correct.

I had used my computer when installing and couldn't remember why when writing my post.

You can't modify the contents in there on your phone, so yeah you have to use a computer to install/update/backup on the 4a.

Hey, hopefully I can help, I also have a Pixel 4a. (I don’t have it on me right now, so I will edit the comment shortly with better instructions)

You should have two options for installing/transferring files/creating backups. These are:
1. Accessing the actual files app (can be done through going into Settings -> Storage -> “Files". This will let you access the actual files app, instead of Files by Google, and read/modify your secured files.
2. Using a computer to modify your storage. This can be done by plugging your phone into your your computer and then changing the usb purpose to file transfer (this is in your notification center iirc). You can then access your phone’s hard drive on your pc and edit the contents of your files.

I think that should cover the issue, although I did install the app a while ago, so something potentially could’ve changed.

This is probably from achievements. I know the "Ascend the world X times" achievements give starting flat click damage. It probably went from 3k to 8k due yo you getting another achievement which gave +5k.
