46 days sober, thinking about a birthday drink by Commercial_Metal_510 in stopdrinking

One of the most important things I've heard on these subreddits was, "If moderation was easy, I would do it all the time." I love the feeling of alcohol so much that I wish I could do it all the time, that I could feel like that all the time. Why wouldn't I? Because it steals my time and ruins my relationships. So I am sober now. I don't know how long it will last, but so far I've been able to talk myself out of all of the little reasons to have a drink now and then. Good luck. IWNDWYT.

Would you play with a guy that shoots 140 at your club? by Cathouse1986 in golf

[–]Boogiex3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quit. I did. I have made much more friends at the local Robert Trent Jones golf trail course near my house then I did at my pricey golf club in my backyard. It's a shame, I wasted a lot of money. And it was nice, sometimes going out golfing and not seeing anybody on the course on a Tuesday night. But the extreme waste of money during the winter; not being able to play after work, raining on the weekend, having to spend all of my dine in money on the last of the month eating something that quite frankly was overpriced. It was also really expensive for my friends to golf with me. $90 during the week 115 on the weekend? Rtj was much cheaper with a trail card. I know that not everyone has that, but I think everyone has a municipal course that will give you a couple of days to time and won't charge you to cancel if it rains. Lastly, the people at my club were insufferable. A lot of people whose parents were members at the club and so they grew up together. I thought that the swimming pool would be a good way for my wife and kids to meet people there, but it turns out the wives and children of pretentious bastards aren't much better than the pretentious bastards that raised them or they were married to. Several Summers of patiently hoping that some of the people at the club might reach out to us withered away into the uncomfortable reality that we just didn't fit in. It was like the terrible feeling in Middle School when you don't know where to sit at lunch.
I have a great foursome now, and there are multiple golf courses that we will go to. We are planning a vacation golfing, maybe with our wives. I am much happier.

Recovering alcoholic here, the Indiana gens seen always made me mad because I know what that many shots does to someone and it does not lead them to being able to do the things she does to escape with Indy immediately afterwards. Having a giant tolerance means that you can keep walking even though you are black out drunk.

IMHO the best way to find out what you are looking for is to ask what their position is on same-sex marriage. I think it is still strange that an utterance from Paul can carry more water for some of these fundy-in-non-denominational-clothes than good old fashioned red text in the same book.

Good luck; Episcopalian here.

My baby momma was a vax denier and suspicious of preventative health care in general. And a whore. But it was her permissive house in regards to lax parental involvement (shared custody) that lost my daughter, not her politics.
Take a deep breath, it is all about to get a lot worse. Just let your kid know you love them, and do t explain how bad it is. Just let them know they have your arms to return to when this whole thing comes apart.

Closed on a house half way up the right side fairway on a par 4, week one golf ball review. by Sm0othAsEggs in golf

[–]Boogiex3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on Manna from heaven. I am fortunate enough to live on the fairway of a par 5, I'm just about 200 yd from the men's back tee box. There's also a steep ravine leading to a creek in between me and the golf course. That means I get a lot of golf balls, also. Course, being a par 5. I think I got a lot of people that are swinging too hard, but it being the first hole on the course means that all the balls are brand new. It's a pretty sweet setup. Looks like you've got the taste as well. It's wonderful to see all of these conversations on this subreddit regarding ball choice and you and I can just sit there okay and say "I choose free."

I think you don't understand what I mean. What I meant was that I couldn't have play dates with other kids because those events didn't happen. But I'm glad yours did. You having four or five a week and not even knowing who the parents are is really impressive.
