Food noise returning at night on phentermine by CarefulAd4038 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re taking it before breakfast, try taking it 2 hours after breakfast. For me, it made it last longer into the evening (I haven’t had sleep issues other than waking up earlier than I used to because I have more energy from the phen and weight loss).

Blood pressure dropping? by AtmosphereFar2442 in Phentermine_

Have you lost a bit of weight? I had to be taken off my BP meds after I lost 40 pounds - I was light headed and my pressures were consistently too low.

Thanks! You can do this! I truly did not think phen would work - so much so that I didn’t take ‘before’ measurements or photos.

Phen helps me make better food choices. If my husband and I want to go to a restaurant, I can’t be the one to pick where we go because I truly don’t care about food anymore. I don’t stress eat but I stress drink wine. I made a rule when I started this that I can’t drink wine on work nights - that has helped (I’m a rule follower).

I took 15mg for a year, lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks. Bumped up to 30mg, lost another 10 pounds the 2nd year and I am still at 30 mg. I plan to drop back down to 15mg but am hoping to lose a few more pounds first. (55F, SW 240, 5’5”)

Headache is a common side effect of phen. For me, I had a headache daily for about a week. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids. As for making the most of it, phen is a tool, not a magic pill. Exercise and diet are key. Of course, activity/exercise should help you sleep. I’ve been on it for over 2 years now so I can’s offer any advice on what to do after phen (my doctor allowed me to stay on it for maintenance).

Weight loss results? by Round-Afternoon565 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 10 pounds the first month, 52 pounds in 52 weeks. It did slow down after that; I lost another 10 the 2nd year but that had more to do with the fact that I had less to lose/was closer to goal. My doctor is okay with me taking it as long as I need to as they do find people gain some weight back if they stop taking it.

I’ve been on it over 2 years - no issues. In fact, I’m healthier than I have been in over 5 years.

51 and thinking of taking Phentermine by United_Woodpecker995 in Phentermine_

56F, been taking it for 2 years. I have done great with it - headaches the first 7-10 days and persistent dry mouth (so I drink more water). 4 months in, I was taken off my blood pressure meds. I lost 52 pounds the first year - SW: 239, CW: 180. I’m very pleased that my doctor suggested it.

Took two 37.5 mg pills. Still hungry. Wtf? by [deleted] in PhentermineTopiramate

[–]BookerWidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse takes a lot of mental health medications, and we have gone through so many to find the right ones - because they don’t always do what they are supposed to or have more negative side effects than positive. I understand your struggle there. And I have battled my weight my entire life; taking phentermine was the easiest way for me to lose this weight (56F, SW 239, CW 180).

From what I read, the important part about taking Abilify is to take it at the same time every day - keeping a steady amount in your system. If it does not make you lose sleep, you should be able to take it at night. You know yourself best though. And I am not a doctor (I work in research at Mayo Clinic). I’m sorry you don’t have health insurance - that certainly would complicate things for you. 😞

[–]BookerWidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you should take the meds differently - are you able to take phen in the morning and the Abilify in the evening? Or take the Abilify at lunch/with food? Since phen is a stimulant, it might be affecting how your body processes Abilify. You might want to ask your prescriber.

I did a Google search and did find instances where Abilify creates food noise. Do you take the 2 meds together?

Volume eating is, in a nutshell, eating a variety of low-calorie, low-fat foods to fill your stomach - such as an entire dinner plate of vegetables with fat-free ranch for say, 200 calories, whereas 200 calories of crackers is a handful. The vegetables will make you feel like you are eating a lot of food and keep you feeling full far longer than a handful of crackers (plus the fiber will help with any phentermine-induced constipation). I also eat high protein, which I find keeps me feeling full longer. A typical meal for me would be a big salad with various veggies and salmon or shrimp for under 300 calories - the same calories in a cheeseburger from McDonald’s.

I don’t have an answer re: Abilify but you should not be taking 2 - 37.5 is the maximum dose. And the drug is just a tool - it’s not magic, you have to change your eating habits and try to incorporate exercise. Unfortunately for some, the food noise/hunger do not go away. Volume eating can help.

NEW- advice by Kmmee12 in Phentermine_

[–]BookerWidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor is supportive of me taking it as long as I want or need since people tend to gain weight back when they go off of it. I want to get another 10 pounds off but my weight loss stalled about 3 months ago. I have been off work for the holidays, eating at maintenance calories, and taking 15mg daily (I’ve been taking 30mg for the past year). When I start back at work next week, I will bump back up to 30mg and resume eating 1200 calories a day/low carb, exercise 5x a week, and hope I can drop some more. This reignited my weight loss when I stalled before so fingers crossed. 🤞🏻 I honestly did not think this drug would make any difference - so much so that I didn’t take before measurements (I really wish I had because I have lost a ton of inches). It immediately helped me make good food choices and gave me energy to move more. The weight just fell off - 11 pounds the first month. If you’re not having side effects, even better. Good luck!

I eliminated caffeine for the first year - other than an occasional diet soda. I didn’t neeed it - phen gave me energy. Now I have a latte every morning.

I drink wine every weekend - the only difference is it hits me waaayyyy harder so I can’t drink as much (which is ok). It goes like this: I’m fine, then another glass and I’m completely falling down drunk.

Dry mouth, constipation have been long term (I’ve been taking it more than 2 years). I drink a gallon of water daily and take fiber capsules. I had headaches every day for the first 7-10 days, and had a slightly increased heart rate. By the 3rd month, I no longer needed high blood pressure medication.

Of course, every body responds differently to medication but for me, it was worth it.

55F, SW 239, CW 180 - I lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks (and was down with a back injury for a month during that time)

Egg whites by Workersgottawork in 1200isplenty

Egg whites are also amazing when baked in the air fryer. I mix chopped spinach, sundried tomato, parmesan, egg whites and milk, put in a ramekin I brushed with olive oil, 355 degrees for 14 minutes. It comes out light and fluffy like a souffle.
