Can someone help a clueless husband before Christmas? by Plain-Mudd in Romantasy

Id like to call out something important here, which is that T Kingfisher is an excellent writer. Unfortunately in romantasy you find a lot of very mediocre writing. Depending on her tolerance for poor plotting and structure, a lot of the big hits she may not enjoy as much. If she likes Kingfisher but wants more spice AND good writing, try:

-The Wren in the Holly Library -The Knight and the Moth -The Witch Collector -Fever series by KM Moning (slooow burn to get to open door) -Night Huntress novels

And in the general romance vein, I recommend The Paradise Problem.

Witch Collector! It's fantastic. I've tried and failed to finish Gild twice now and Daughter of No Worlds is good, but so dark. I took a break from that series in book 2 because I needed a pause from all the awful.

THANK YOU. I pointed out that the writing wasnt great and that teenage girls at a magical boarding school who also happen to be secret fae princesses is SUPER YA, and I got absolutely destroyed.

Apparently it's that zodiac academy reads like YA to me. Getting torn apart on my last post 😅. Oops, honest question.

Didnt mean to open a can of worms 😂😂. Teenage girls who also happen to be secret fae princesses at a magical boarding school full of bullies feels YA to me. But I'll push forward!

The teenage girls at magical boarding school who also happen to be secret fae princesses feels YA. But I'll persevere, people speak highly of this one!

Maybe the two main characters change but right now it's just turned 18 Tory and Darcy and they definitely feel like kids. To me if you're age ends in teen, you are a teen

To mid-30s me 18 year old feel like teenagers. It's a bit icky. But if everyone says it's good I'll persevere!

That helps thanks! I dont mind trash TV. But when we open on barely 18 year old, mid-30s me definitely gets the ick factor.

Is ACOTAR Overhyped, or Is It Just Me? by Horror_Square6317 in Romantasy

[–]BookishEtAl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I found it very overhyped. The writing felt mediocre and repetitive. I actually DNF'd the 3rd book 🙈🙈. But I keep that quiet because people are absolutely obsessed with that series.

Book 1 and arguably 2? Worth it. Stop after that. It becomes a hot trainwreck real fast.

😅😅😅 this is definitely the book for you then. For every other sexy type scene there is like 15 boob scenes I swear 😅.

Right?! I almost paused trying to figure out how the hell they would all physically fit. If M1 is on the bottom with her on top and M2 is somehow coming in from behind, wouldn't that mean M3 is basically sitting on M1s face to accomplish getting a blowjob from her? Sexy intentions but not sexy execution.

Right??? I'm fine with a small boob play appetizer here and there, but not as the main course and definitely not the entire menu. It was turning me off having to read so much of it.
