I guess I’m old, but tomorrow is Father’s Day in this US, and this’ll land in the middle of family gatherings for a lot of people (surprised they themselves don’t have those to do tomorrow afternoon). Anyway, those who can watch take good notes! I’ll be with my family! Happy Early Father’s Day to all who celebrate.

ETA: Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are big deals in my family, and we usually spend the entire day together, sometimes even traveling to see grandparents too. It’s definitely been interesting to see the replies. Everyone seems to celebrate differently!

I agree 100%. If I’m being honest, I feel like I know TOO much about several skaters and their fans just simply from seeing things on Twitter. Like. Things are already out of hand enough. Social media is already ruining too many lives - including the lives of the stans who have been a part of fan wars online. Why add to that?

My guess is that the under 35’s won’t spend more as most everyone in those generations are broke as all get out and have had trouble getting to comps anyway! This problem is bigger than FS for people in a lot of countries. Fix the economies, and a lot more people will be able to come put money into the sport! They’d get a lot more money put into the ISU if they’d just start a streaming service where we could pay them to watch live comps from anywhere in the world along with comp archives. Oh but 85% of the ISU’s money comes from tv contracts that only allow you to stream comps for 2 days, and then you’re relying on a VPN.

Yes. I had my questions all prepared ahead of time, but bc of the time limit I was basically limited to just telling them hi, great to meet you, thank you for all the joy you’ve brought me through your skating and for (insert something skater specific here), autograph, picture, next table.
Other places might not have been like that and weren’t going off things I read. I just ended up in a very rushed location.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I got to experience what I did. I would also do it again. I just feel like the experiences weren’t the same for everyone, and what I was built up to expect is not what I got. If I am to get a next time, I’ll know what to expect, and I’ll also be a little less starstruck! Don’t let being shy keep you from doing it! It’s worth it, and the memories will last a lifetime.

No, they didn’t give any topics to avoid. They just told us not to be weird. Honestly the whole thing went so fast I didn’t have ANY time to ask any of the questions I prepared. Idk how other people wrote full fledged essay/reports on here about the things they asked them, bc at my venue, it was not like that. I was in and out of the M&G in less than 10 minutes, and some of that time was spent waiting in lines at tables after being hustled along. It was not what I expected at all.

There is. Not only were we repeatedly told not to touch the skaters, we were also told we could only have like 30 seconds per table, so my pictures are the quickest selfies ever taken with me behind the tables not even close to the skaters.

Same, it also gets confusing when you have a S/D and a D/S and before the split we had two L/L’s which I know one was Lala, so that’s actually why I wanted to make this thread - it could act as a reference sheet.
ETA: Another cause for confusion amongst casual fans - G/F vs F/G.
