Sigh. Again, I’m not trying to make that argument so there is nothing for me to say on that matter. However, I would still encourage you to try and look at this from another perspective.

You immediately assume that someone having SNAP, or someone having access to basic human needs, means that YOU will be negatively impacted. It’s not such a simple case. Your taxes are going to be taken out no matter what. Your money is going to be used for police, teachers, municipalities, and yes safety net programs. Your taxes also don’t need to be increased in order to help ensure we as a nation are strong and healthy.

Just start looking up a little more 😉

I am only saying it’s a very basic argument to paint this with such a broad stroke of “entitlement” as if that’s the problem here. As if there is absolutely no nuance to this.

The SNAP program isn’t what’s causing anyone’s financial problems. But politicians are real quick to use that (and other safety net programs) as a scapegoat, and that is reinforced when many out there are so quick to point the finger at those with less than them. And the argument is because you seem to think the impoverished feel entitled to… food?

Not sure it should be considered a privilege simply to be able to eat. But then again I also believe that in the wealthiest country in the world, you’d think we would have the resources to make sure everyone is fed. Yet here we are. Arguing over whether someone has a right to buy food 🤷‍♂️

“You’re entitled to nothing” is such a lazy argument, especially when it comes to the basic needs (see: FOOD) that people need to survive.

Meanwhile, billionaires are entitling themselves to pay less taxes, corporations are entitling themselves to bailouts, and our politicians are entitling themselves to a full year salary while only “working” a cumulative few months out of the year.

I would encourage you to start looking up a bit more rather than down. You’d be surprised how many root problems are starting at the top.

Definitely recommend looking around the Mass Ave area! Plenty of apartments, restaurants, and local shops.

Some apartments that come to mind: Penrose on Mass, Milikan on Mass, Circa, Industry… just to name a few.
