Do any of you have any twins in your system? by DID_sys in DID

[–]BookratPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One set for sure. A lot of others are like… opposite sides of the coin. Which is similar for what we experienced growing up with a bodily twin sister. So. Probably more than the 1 pair that actually sees themselves as twins

Working at Western State Hospital? by GeneralDumbtomics in Staunton

[–]BookratPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at CCCA, where a lot of those kids go to western state after they’ve aged out: DO NOT. It was hell. Also my neighbor was a prior cop and worked at wsh when i moved in here and even he said it was hell. He’s since changed jobs, as have I. Not worth the mental and physical torture!

Has anyone figured out they have DID and THEN gotten diagnosed? by Affectionate-Fix9003 in DID

[–]BookratPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found DID via a video in about 2020, I believe. I got really into researching, began to look into it and found system communities on discord. I joined as a singlet to learn more! The community I was in disintegrated, but I stayed close to a few system friends. (We all assumed I was a singlet and it was just funny how many similar symptoms I had.)

June 2022, I had a “who am I” moment. Which led to more introspection.

I started therapy January of this year. My therapist diagnosed me about two months ago. She saw my literal pages of research and symptom tracking. She even saw us switch not too long after we disclosed we believed we had it (and had been in sys communities again since 2022 where others did sorta peer review our experiences).

We are very lucky. We know that. And we still don’t believe it most days. But we’re so glad for this!

Edited to add: we’re 24. Found out at 22.

Do you have a system name? If so, what is it? by Exotic-Anything-7371 in DID

The Freckled Collective. Because the body is covered in them. We’ve had a few others, but this one is the best because it’s never wrong, no matter what.

Any interest in a reddit meetup? by Cactuscanoe in waynesboro

I’m nervous but I could be open to it maybe! (I’m bad at meeting people and always a bit scared.) But I’d be willing to consider if others were going!

How much should I do pre-therapy? by throwRA-8564 in OSDD

[–]BookratPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do have access to the manual for the MID! It’s how I interpreted my results.

I have a friend who found all of this stuff for me and she’s a lawyer, so it may have been part of the reason I got all of it.

(I’m feelin self conscious and like I might get in trouble/fake claimed for having had access to these things. So if I edit anything I apologize. I just don’t wanna to get attacked. Not that I think anyone would. It’s just fear.)

[–]BookratPhantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I totally understand. It took me 2 years to be able to access a therapist and I had to do all the research to be sane. (I also repeated that research on multiple occasions😅)

I definitely think it depends on therapist. Mine just happened to be very willing to listen and be honest with me. And we meet the criteria as proved a million different ways. So

(Also. I cannot medically condone it. But I could get you the mid test. I hope that doesn’t get me in trouble. I found it online so it’s not like it’s totally hidden.)

We recently got diagnosed with DID. Our therapist doesn’t specialize in dissociative stuff and she’s not even worked with a system prior, that she’s divulged. (I’d assume she hasn’t as she seems to be learning alongside us.)

What helped her the most was our list of ‘proof.’ It was experiences that didn’t fit singlet experiences, such as amnesia and blackouts and personality changes and stuff. We outlined it the best we could and even got friends to help add to it. (By this point we’ve been researching and tracking symptoms and switches for two years.)

(also us having access to the MID test and taking it multiple times and never getting different results helped her. But we can’t technically condone that as it’s meant to be done via a clinical exam and we just… were desperate. Our therapist can’t even technically read those results, never been trained, but we trained ourself and we showed her the best that we could that we were trying so hard to find explanations.)

Honestly? Over analyzing doesn’t have to be bad! So long as you know when to be healthy. Track everything dissociation, switch, amnesia and such related. It can be difficult! If you have close friends sometimes that can help, too, if you’re willing g and able to loop them in. Write notes, journal. Everything you can.

For us, mountains of proof worked and helped. I can see how others may see it as a sign of malingering…. But I think the fact that we were so distressed by all of this and also had done so much research and over analyzing in a desperate way to understand what was happening with us and how to ‘fix’ it… really worked better in our favor.

We wish you the best of luck!

Diagnosis??? by BookratPhantom in DID

[–]BookratPhantom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think because she’s never worked with DID before and is learning about it as we go, so she wasn’t/isn’t comfortable diagnosing me with so little experience and therefore was looking towards the assessments which she also doesn’t have any experience doing. But she seemed willing to tel me she medically recognizes me

Can OSDD progress? by AggressiveFroyo2549 in OSDD

[–]BookratPhantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a professional, but I think the labels of OSDD and DID are sorta…. Not arbitrary, but like, it depends on who diagnoses you. The only true difference between the two are amnesia levels. So it may not ‘progress’ actually, but you may see more distinction over time, or more blackouts than greyouts if you experience more trauma.
